Re: Friday, January 6, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

When the FJ clue was revealed I knew two things. One, Dave was done since there was no way Joel Osteen could not know it. Two, I knew there would have to be precallers on the correct response. Dave had his chance at a tank tie. Instead he went for the outright and L'Amour got him. Dave, congrats on ...

Re: Thursday, January 5, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

The FJ category gave me mixed feelings. Yes, I should know the clue, but how embarrassing if I don't? In Dave's shoes the situation would be perfect. I would wager 200. If I know it great and if I don't then go for humor so no one would know the difference. The category was ripe for a precall and th...

One Sunday when I played slow-pitch softball . . . "Yeah, not like that last game. I play the game like this!" Your story fits very well how the game went for Dave and Nicholas. Thanks for sharing. I'll take that and hijack the thread with my own. I was batting second on a slow pitch softball team....

I'll say yes since I said Doc Ock and counted mine as fine. Plus you didn't use an umlaut. ;)

Re: Wednesday, January 4, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

I looked at the archive hits for "Johnny Got His Gun": http://www.j-archive.com/search.php?search=johnny+got+his+gun&submit=Search Next I looked at my scoresheets and I only had the clue correct for the 2011 clue. Tonight with the wording not holding my hand I was not able to solve it. If the clue h...

Thanks for sharing the photo. You got me on the guy in the lower right kneeling as I had to look up his name. The others I was able to name immediately.

Re: Tuesday, January 3, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

Of course Dave's 700 DD wager was an intentional tank. Going for it on the next to last clue took some nerve. If he had bet it all (or enough to overtake Nicholas) then his payday and TOC position could have been better. That's if he knew Mitchell. I agree with econgator and xxaaaxx that I don't thi...

That sounds like fun. Which Best Picture winner best describes your J! career? I'll go with: It Happened One Night

Speaking of one TOCer beating another, did anyone besides me notice that Ryan Chaffee (who was beaten by Stephen Weingarten) was on tonight's Who's Still Standing? I just thought I'd mention. i noticed that ryan was not the only familiar player there. someone else on the show was a much bigger winn...

Re: Monday, January 2, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

That was a great job by Dave to pull out the game with the sole solve on the FJ clue. I brainstormed the category all over the place during commercials, but it did me no good. My wish was for something about a Best Picture winner. When the clue wanted a loser that threw me off. I searched for a pict...

Re: FJs for the 12/26/11 week

Wow, Yalta is at 1/23 so far. I would be proud and take a bow, but it was only a guess on my part. If it had been a regular clue for $2000 I never would have tried it. With extra DD thinking time it was all that I had to try a Crimea city. Nothing else in the clue was helpful to me.

This poll will conclude 15 weeks of the season, so that is a good stopping point for the first third to consider the tough FJ clues. Voting goes for about four weeks and then I'll round up the tough clues at the end of January.

I was thinking of boardies tonight. Econgator: On Deck and Seaborgium: Well, he knows which one. When rhapsody was not hit that was an early tip we were in for a bumpy night, ride and time. Sometimes viewers would like the 4th podium. Tonight I wanted the first podium. My sheet shows 20400 entering ...

Was there an edit for Louis Vuitton? It seemed like a jump in figuring out Jennifer had her phrasing and response accepted. I don't remember a Louis Vuitton clue. There was a shoe clue with the response "Louboutin," which Jennifer mispronounced as loo-boo-tawn. To be fair, most people mispronounce ...
