Re: Friday, July 26, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Wow, what a great game to end the season! Jason was extremely dominant throughout, and I'm glad we now have a post-James 6xer! Now that he's had time to have watched James Holzhauer's historic run, I hope he'll come back strong and willing to try and implement his strategies! Even though neither Ma...

Re: Thursday, July 25, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

As much as I like Jason, if I'm being truthful, he's one of the luckiest 5-day champions Jeopardy has had in recent years. This is at least his 3rd game now where he could've easily lost had one (or in this case, both) of his opponents made smarter wagers. Nah. You have to be in the lead to benefit...

Re: Wednesday, July 24, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Great comeback by Jason! Got a little worried after he missed his TDD in the Jeopardy round, but he came back strong and hard after that and fought off a tough challenger in Corin!

Hope he'll win tomorrow; don't want another victim of the 4-game curse!

Re: Tuesday, July 23, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Yeah, I was thinking El Dorado but my brain was already racing ahead to other fantasy lands and so I blurted out Shangri-la, which was an answer later on....and Jason rang in first for that one. Was kicking myself over that mistake....and for not betting it all when I hit the one daily double (with...

Re: Tuesday, July 23, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

John completely blew it at the end there by deciding to only risk $4K on that 2nd DJ DD. He had the perfect opportunity right there to pull the rug out from under Jason and to cause him to scramble, but instead he went FAR too conservative. He basically assured his loss at that point. But even thoug...

Re: Monday, July 22, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I don't understand James' FJ bet. Wouldn't $9,601 have been optimal? That's enough to take first place if Jason gets FJ wrong or bets $0, yet it is also enough to keep second place if Cristina gets FJ wrong. Assuming a sensible lockout wager from Jason (in the $8401-9599 range), James would have to...

Re: Monday, July 22, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Pretty exciting game! I liked seeing Jason and James duke it out against each other on that buzzer (and they even both had the EXACT same number of correct and incorrect responses, too!). But that FJ was tough as nails, and so it unfortunately meant trouble for James. Cristina had a hard time compet...

Re: Friday, July 19, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Nathan's luck ran out with this game. Jason proved to be a formidable player and ensured that Nate could not scrape by with another lucky win. Congrats to the new champ!

Also, tough luck to Kathleen. Always sucks to see Jeopardy players finish in the red.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any mentions of Nathan losing a tiebreaker on "Million Second Quiz" to eventual runner-up Brandon Saunders. That tiebreaker was Iowa's postal abbreviation.
Well, I guess you can say he got vengeance in regards to his tiebreaker luck!

Re: Thursday, July 18, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Well, that... happened.

Seriously, what a heartbreaker for Roey. Played much better than Nathan did the whole game, but ends up losing because of a tiebreaker. Crazy to have seen what could've been a potential superchamp go out that way!

Re: Wednesday, July 17, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I found it funny how you went $4K three times in a row on DD's, LOL! The wager felt like it made sense in each circumstance. On DD1 it was late enough in the J round that I felt like I could go big and still have room to catch up. On DD2 I kind of liked the category and needed a big splash but didn...

Re: Wednesday, July 17, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Sad to see you go, Sam. You were a great player and I admired your strategy. It just wasn't your day today, but 5 wins with over $150K won is a great feat and certainly a huge thing to cherish!

Also, congrats to the new champ Roey. I found it funny how you went $4K three times in a row on DD's, LOL!

WOOOOO!!! So glad to FINALLY now have a post-James 5-day champ! Sam, you are proving yourself to be an EXCELLENT player, and I cannot wait to see you in the 2020/2021 TOC! I like your strategy a lot, and for up and coming players who may be a bit too nervous to try out James Holzhauer's revolutionar...

Wow, very good job today, Sam! I'm impressed with your gutsy wagering in this game as well as the fact that you were finally able to make it a runaway! Hopefully you'll win tomorrow so that we can finally have a post-James 5-day champ!

Re: 2019 TOC Updates

At the end of the day, I think it's important to remember that this particular season of Jeopardy was quite unusual in many ways, with it having the "4-day curse" throughout much of it as well as James Holzhauer, arguably the best player in Jeopardy history, dominating the airwaves for 33 games. And...

Re: Friday, July 12, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Congrats to Sam on his 3-day winning streak! We truly are in an era of amazing and exciting players! If he wins again on Monday, he very well could be in the TOC along with Ryan.
