Re: Thursday, March 18, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I fluked myself into getting this FJ right. For some reason the words "title role" came to mind although neither the category or clue suggested it. With that logic I ended up going with the right response. Same here. I even laughed at the Oklahoma response as nobody was playing Oklahoma. Music Man ...

Re: Wednesday, March 17, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I said Progressive and Socialist for FJ. I’m glad we have a new champ. Much better game than yesterday. FJ: I put Bull Moose, Socialist, and Communist into a basket. I left the Moose meat in the basket because I think that Communism was surprisingly popular at some period in history, but maybe it w...

Re: Wednesday, March 17, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I misread the answer and thought the parties were at opposite ends of the spectrum. Figured it out just in time to get both in with some illegible scribbling at the end of Progressives. I’m counting it.
I liked Morgan and was glad she won. Liking Katie better every episode.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive
Eugene's game is cut off during the DJ category reveals, but the cards are visible before that: THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, BODIES OF WATER, AMERICAN INDIANS, TEXTILES, DINOSAURS, and WOMEN IN SPORTS. The next show starts during the J! category reveals, and FLAGS for $200 and $300, as well as the respons...

Re: Tuesday, March 16, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I thought "what it supplied" and naming 2 sculptors (plus specifying 3 "a"s) made this FJ easy. "Carrara marble" is a thing, I don't know anything else about the city or the material...More name recognition than a geography clue... Since the players couldn't get Roles in Common for $1000, I didn't ...

Re: Tuesday, March 16, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
No clue on FJ so put down Alabaster. (I used to live in Alabaster, Alabama). It fit the category and seemed plausible. Oh, well. Katie was probably aghast that two players old enough to remember Wild World of Sports didn’t know where the cliff divers were from. Nice job by Katie today. Her best effo...

Re: Learned League 88 - Feb/Mar '21
So I had an eight match winning streak, tying my longest ever. Then I give my opponent three for Route 66. He is from New Zealand so I thought he wouldn’t be familiar with it. At least I salvaged a 4(3)-4(2) tie after getting three on Wendy O. Williams. I gave him zero on that because he had a high ...

Re: Monday, March 15, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
runs: Totally Lit, T.O.C., Spaced Out, DDs: :D :D :D trash: Booster DD. As noted by Mark, rather clean boards. FJ: Panem  instaget from "Bread & Circuses", everything else was noise. We can't say Historic Black University now? I spent the clue trying to figure out what HBU stood for :?: I ...

Re: Friday, March 12, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Negged with Shenandoah, which is frustratingly close and also from the Algonquian. Alas. I will never in a million years understand that wager from second place. There are so many options there between $1400 and $7200 (I'm rounding) that would be justifiable. Any single one of those and Keith wins....

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread
Not saying invite Sean Hannity, but a media personality perceived as right leaning might have deflected some of the griping about Couric.
So far I am meh on her. She is getting the job done but I don’t want her to be the permanent host. I do think she did better as the week went on.

Re: 2021 Current Events Discussion Thread
Sad to hear about Marvin Hagler. He was indeed marvelous, even changing his name so he would be introduced as Marvelous Marvin Hagler.
The first round of his fight against Thomas Hearns is one of the best boxing rounds ever.

Re: Friday, March 12, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I got FJ on guess. I considered Manassas but decided that wouldn’t be it since the official (Yankee) name is the Battle of Bull Run. Antietam didn’t really sound Native American to me but it was the best I could do. The state of Washington never crossed my mind. McKinley was in the Civil War (last p...

Re: Learned League 88 - Feb/Mar '21
I guess I have to call that an easy week, since I only missed 3 questions. And I should have gotten 2 of them. Be afraid of next week. It seems like the difficulty level between match days has been all over the map this season. I only missed two questions this week and still went 1-0-4 (4 ties). #A...

Re: Learned League 88 - Feb/Mar '21
There were definitely more than two female speakers in 2001. There was his daughter on the videophone, one of the stewardesses who asks him about his food, the scientist on the space station, and Frank's mother celebrating his birthday. I think there might have been another on the shuttle to Tycho ...

Re: Learned League 88 - Feb/Mar '21
It wasn't until I double checked my submission this evening that I realized my opponent had "Harvard Law" in his bio, and I'd given him 2 points for Twinkie Defense. It wouldn't have impacted the match, fortunately, since he missed his other 2 and his 3, and those two were firmly established. Losin...

I'm very glad to hear this, Bamaman. I really hope neither of you has long-term problems from this. Well, we are now COVID survivors. Re: Learned League 88 - Feb/Mar '21
The only question I wasn’t sure of was the G&S one but there was an old game show (21?) which had a question about animal, vegetable, of mineral. TBH the question was a little oddly worded. I’ve never read any of those books or watched The Crown but those questions were pretty easy. Two days in a r...
