I would think yes.
It would seem that p-waves are longitudinal waves, but I've only ever heard the "p-wave" terminology applied to solids; is it really valid to use that term for a longitudinal wave in a gas?

Re: SHC Round 2 Instant Replay Thread [SPOILERS]

In Monday's game one question doesn't really make sense: 6: Pitch is the way the human ear perceives minute changes in this property of air measured in pascals. "Pitch" is the highness or lowness of the sound, which is the frequency of the sound (measured in Hertz). The ear perceives changes in air...

Re: Introduce Yourself Here

Greetings: My name is Nick Condon, I am "orginally from Lakewood, CO" and currently live in the DC area. (The "NJ" in my username are simply my first two initials, and do not denote any association with New Jersey.) I have a PhD in analytical chemistry, and I masquerade as an optical physicist or ma...

Oh, brought it will be, young lady; I will destroy you! Or, more probably, lose to you by a small but nontrivial margin!

Re: SHC Round 1 Instant Replay Thread [SPOILERS]

I also edited my response a few seconds after posting it because I forgot the spoiler tags; sorry. I can't believe I clammed on the 15-pointer; I knew tarragon (food category=wheelhouse), but for the life of me, I couldn't come up with Aragon. Somewhere, Sra. Young is crying about the time she waste...

Re: SHC Round 1 Instant Replay Thread [SPOILERS]

The video game questions were all instagets for me, but I'll admit that the only reason I instagot Words with Friends is that I uninstalled it from my phone today (none of my family were interested in playing) and noticed that it was from Zynga.

Re: SHC Round 1 Instant Replay Thread [SPOILERS]

Was Twain really the correct answer for the 6 clue in the second category? I know, I should just Pavlov to him any time anyone mentions Missouri in the 19th Century, but it didn't seem like the correct answer to me. This reminds me since there was no board around when you were on, Nick, but what wa...

Re: Ideal changes for Season 28

I would like to see them extend the ToC to three weeks, with a field of 25, but maybe it's too late for them to implement that simple and sensible change in time... That would not be good, Nick. You're just saying that because of what would have happened had it not been for Jay and Mark, and others...
