Re: what city did you choose for the test?

I think the rule of thumb (besides hitch hiking) is if you are going 400 miles or less, flying saves no time over driving.

Three islands to remember with Napoleon: Corsica – birthplace Elba – exile #1 (1814-1815) St. Helena – exile #2 and death (after the "100 Days" and his loss at Waterloo; 1815-1821) Thank you for this. I've been screwing these up for years and for some reason seeing it posted like this will do it fo...

Re: Celebrity Jeopardy?

Bob Harris posted on FB that he coached Penn Jillette a bit, and that they taped today (Wednesday). Thank you. I wonder if this means we'll get two weeks of Celebrity Jeopardy! I really doubt they would go to two weeks. I can't speak of how Jeopardy does it, but because of scheduling conflicts of t...

yeah, screw charity, they don't need the money/publicity...

I like the celebrity week, as long as they don't stoop to putting on a Kardashian or something like that, it's one week out of the year.

I would suspect they have a timeframe for the cities, but not specific dates at this point.

1115am east coast, still not up.

But considering it's only 815am on the west, I would suspect this doesn't get fixed until early afternoon eastern time.

Re: Friday, March 27, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I'm a little surprised how many are saying theu didn't know the name El Al. I Would've thought we would have more fans of the movie Airplane. That's the reason I know the airline, remember the bearded plane pulling up to the gate? Very well--I also remember that they called the airline "Air Israel"...

Re: How Do You Play Along?

The dream app somehow reads the "go" lights in the studio, locks me out from buzzing if it is too early, and lets me see if I can ring in faster than the contestants. When the Jeopardy Challenger came out, I was hoping that's what it would do. When I saw you could link them together, I thought the ...

For my location, it's not about distance, it's about mountains. I'm about 60 miles or so away from transmitters of my nearest market, but I'm in a valley.

Re: When/how do you watch your Jeopardy?

You don't even have an antenna where you could at least watch Jeopardy plus network sports? It amazes me how many times I run into people who think the entire country can use an antenna. I'm not trying to be mean, I just keep getting surprised. Where I live, an antenna might, MIGHT get me a PBS sta...

Re: When/how do you watch your Jeopardy?

I would love to watch daily (only time-shifted on DVR), but with the game-show hating wife, I watch it a few days a week, two or three episodes at a time. I don't think I could have married somebody who hated game shows. But, of course, I wish the two of you only happiness. Well thank you. As oppos...

How do you get it from DVR to DVD? Is it still hi-def?

Re: Curtis Warren

As far as the timing, all I can say is that is definitely a 1986 Camaro on the stage (only year with third brake light on top, outside of glass). So that means taping was at least September 1985. In the first show of this run, Jim said something about him making a previous appearance where something...

Re: If you were alone on FJ, would you bet all but $1?

I like where you're heading with this, but the average isn't really of much use here. You might think $4999 gives me a 1 in 7 chance of making it, $6012 a 2 in 7 chance, $9100 a 3 in 7, $9900 a 4 in 7, etc. So below 9100, you may as well bet everything (unless it screws your opportunity to win outr...

Re: If you were alone on FJ, would you bet all but $1?

There's a huge amount of variance there. Especially in a TOC, there's value in a $6000 score; historically there's value even in a $1 score. I think if we looked over all of the tournaments, we would actually see that people generally overestimate the cutoff value to their detriment (i.e. making a ...
