Re: Learned League 84

A distinct two half-seasons for me: after day 12, 0.819 correct. For the next 13 games: 0.620 correct. Overall it ended up ok, but the amazing start disappeared.

See you all next season!

Re: Learned League 84

With two matches to go, A Magnolia has tons of parity, with only one championship spot locked up, and 13 others have a mathematical chance of making it. 10 people have a chance of being relegated, but unfortunately cmp146 has one such spot locked up with only two wins despite a reasonable qpct. Expe...

Re: Learned League 84

Today I had a failure. I somehow read the question about Elizabeth II's newest great-grandchild as saying its name was the same length as hers. I thought, "Well, he's Archie, but A-R-C-H-I-B-A-L-D; E-L-I-Z-A-B-E-T-H. Both nine letters, there you go!" I tied 6(4)-6(4), with that question being worth...

Re: FJs for the 3/2/20 week

Playing from the board, I somehow read 'Tahitian ' as 'Trinidadian ' ( which I'm not even sure is a language) . Needless to say, that got me nowhere.

Re: Learned League 84

Wonder why he asked for all three of the Triumvirate. Usually he only asks for one. Ah well. I had Clay and Webster, but blanked on Calhoun and put Pinckney. Yeah, I didn't like that question at all. Somehow neither of my opponents put 3 points on that question. (I had Calhoun, Jackson and Quincy A...

Re: Learned League 84

I managed to get a 9(6) yesterday with a couple good guesses on Crossroads (without Brittany Spears) and Ford. Still in last place and still winless. I had to take my kids to see the Britney version. OMG it was beyond awful. Would you have sold your soul to get out of it? [sympathies to cmp146 who ...

I think the Pauli exclusion principle smacks of elitism.
Of course I agree with you. Those elitist fermions ruin everything. Bosons work together for a greater good. Integer spin!

Re: 2020 Current Events Study Guide

After injuries to both their starting goalie and their backup, the Carolina Hurricanes had almost half the game left against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Toronto. Emergency Backup Goalie David Ayres- a 42-year-old zamboni driver and practice goalie for the Leafs was brought in. It was 3-1 for the visi...

Sable, mink, ermine: flip a 3-sided coin, get it wrong. If some questions are 50:50:90, then this one was 33:33:33:98.

Re: The Jeopardy! Anytime Test

I'm suspicious of the reasons for this change. There are lots of people who pass the test who don't get an audition, so it isn't due to a lack of people. It must be due to a lack of the people the producers want. My suspicion is diversity of the pool: more women, more rural people, more visible mino...

This has got to be bad news for any of us who have passed the test... More competition to get an audition.

Re: RIP HQ Trivia

So, is the whole trivia-for-cash-app basically done? Fleetwit still sends me stuff, but hasn't even tried to make an Android app. Anyone playing another game that is fun and/or profitable?

Re: Private rundle

This private rundle is still open until Wednesday evening! If you would like to join, you are welcome. We currently have 7 registrants - an odd number, which isn't allowed. We need at least one more to allow all who have registered to play. I set up a private rundle: rundle name: Jboardom Registrati...

Re: Learned League 84

It hasn't been huge - as many as 10 people in previous seasons, but perhaps this is due to the fact that there are some heavy hitters making the game not fun for those who don't answer ~4-5 questions a day. It could also be that many people don't have the premier membership ( the benefits aren't hug...

Learned League 84

This thread is for friendly discussions of LL84, in winter/spring 2020. Many jboard members are learned league players - a referral-only online trivia league. Board members in good standing (ie who have posted to jboard without causing problems for some time) are welcome to ask for a referral here. ...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), January 30, 2020

That's how they used to do it for Brain Bus events. And during the the pre-online test days. You'd take the test, they'd grade it, come back in the rooms and call out about 10-15 names. Everyone else was thanked and told to go home. This still happens at occasional special events. The auditions at ...

I’m confused. It says on the website they don’t release scores.
These are self-reported scores, based off answers posted here. These aren't the scores J! uses to score, but there is no big reason to exaggerate or lie here.
