Re: Introduce Yourself Here

I went through a name change when we moved here. I didn't really like the old one so I went with something more descriptive. I'm not very good at coming up with message board names. I use my initials on another one I post on. I grew up not far from Spaceman Spiff, though he's a few (not too many) ye...

Re: Wednesday, July 27, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILE

Charles may have a fairly long reign for his age. His maternal grandmother lived past 100 and his parents have both lived a long time. He has always been fairly active, so he must be in decent shape. I'd say he lives until at least 90, giving him around 20 years on the throne. His son will be in his...

Re: Summer Hiatus Challenge -- Rules

I agree with econgator. I'm not a scorer, but I like reading everyone else's answers and having to click on the spoiler tag makes it more trouble than its worth. I used it today because we were told to, but I'm not seeing the point, either.

I liked the one of two category, but not the "Bonus" category. Too gimmicky.

Re: SHC Round 1 Instant Replay Thread [SPOILERS]

Was tempted to go with 'amonteeyahdo' because my brain choked and couldn't remember what to do with the 'L's (that don't, of course, produce the el sound...) A minute of staring at it finally put the letters in the right order, though. So will my answer of Amantiado be correct under the "I want to ...

Re: Friday, July 29, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

I would have had an awful game if my mom hadn't read 3 of the books in the Book Titles category (though I did read the first few chapters of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. I keep meaning to pick that one up again.) I said Grauman's Chinese Theater for FJ, having never seen a James Dean movie...

Glad you found us, pink. Nice seeing your car again.

I'm sure a lot of people on here are fans of Sporcle, so you may enjoy this article I ran across.

Re: Friday, July 29, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

I've seen it happen quite a bit when they return the second player's money when they decide the first player's alternate answer is correct. I do think when the second player gives the right answer after an alternate answer originally ruled wrong is rules correct should not keep the money, but they d...

Re: New season tapings delayed

Though I do wonder, just when were the 11/30/04 and 9/19/05 episodes taped? My guess is 9/19/05 was taped on 7/27/05, following the tradition of one week of tapings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, starting the Tuesday after the season finale. My taping was Tuesday, July 26th for airing the 3rd week of ...

Re: Friday, July 29, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

I was sure the FJ category favored the local. So did I. Yet it was a sole get by a guy from the east coast. go figure. At least he made a contest out of it, and went down wagering intelligently. Yes he did. Strangely, during the break I was thinking the leader should be gutsy and make a Shoetegic b...

Re: Friday, July 29, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

I had the same wrong answer. I saw Rebel Without a Cause once about 25 years ago and don't remember that much about it. I felt the memorial was tied to that movie since he is more known for that movie than the other two. But I would never have gotten the correct response.

Re: New season tapings delayed

No, I would not to want to watch Will Ferrell doing an Alex impersonation. I do think Pat Sajak could do it in a pinch and Jimmy hosted the Watson practice games. I'm no expert, but I think WWTBAM would be easier to edit than Jeopardy! With the clues popping up and players responding in rapid fire s...

Re: Ideal changes for Season 28

The reason they only let the winner keep the money is that they want people to actually compete in FJ. They let everyone keep the money on the Fleming version. There was a contestant on then that wanted to win a certain amount to buy an engaement ring and stopped rining in once he achieved that tota...

Re: Thursday, July 28, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILER

I liked that the player took a chance on the last clue of breaking the lock. The number of possible responses was fairly limited, so guessing an random old west personality had a decent chance of being correct. I hate it when people don't even take a chance of getting back in the game, especially wh...
