Re: Season 37 Preemptions

Hopefully a certain someone will save the day for me. :) On Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at approximately 3:46 p.m. CDT, Sony Pictures stormed the offices of The Secret Bunker, confiscated all equipment, and set fire to the archives. There was only one survivor, a penguin who had been sent out for her...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

The skeleton Robert entered (I assume he will input what he has soon) is the 7000th one to be archived and the other one is 7001.

Re: How Did Aaron Rodgers Do as Host?

Seems like most everyone is giving him high marks for effort so I have to be the one with the hot take that he was the worst of the guest hosts. His reading/presenting voice ranged from nervous-kid-reading-book-report-at-the-front-of-the-classroom to Eeyore. When not behind the lectern he shifted b...

Re: Jeopardy! Interim Host Thread

I wonder how he got the job. The other guests are mostly all talk show hosts or interview people on TV for a living. Dr. Gupta and Bailik are exceptions, but he has been a medical expert on CNN giving commentary and she is an actress. What was it about Rodgers that caused Jeopardy to reach out to him?

Re: How Did Aaron Rodgers Do as Host?

9 from me while I would have checked 8.5 if that was available. Aaron's 10 games were enough to demonstrate the QB can be like Mike (Strahan) and have a TV career post NFL. Aaron needed a little more gusto as his energy level seemed to be some kind of intentional low key. I gave him an 8 but also w...

Re: Friday, April 16, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

My first thought was Young but thought he was dead by then and didn’t actually found BYU. He was still alive but it seems he didn’t directly create BYU. I think I had heard this about Stanford before so I got it right. I did get a chuckle from Aaron’s last FJ being about a school “Cal beats all the ...

I had low hopes of getting FJ when I saw the category and my hopes sunk lower when I saw the answer. Put down velocity just to have something.

The Olympics have been held during times Jeopardy was in season before and they have never reverted to reruns.

Re: Wednesday, April 14, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The list of Hamlet adaptations didn’t list this one.

Hamlet was my first thought and only briefly considered Othello.

Disappointed Aaron didn’t say Robert Burns with a Scottish brogue.

Re: Tuesday, April 13, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Never seen Anchorman but knew it was set in San Diego. I read about Aaron being in a game with the astronaut but couldn’t remember his last name. Maybe we’ll have a Mr. Wonderful clue later this week. I was spoiled on the Green Bay clue before I saw the game but it was easy Lach Trash for me. Orion ...

Re: Monday, April 12, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

"V" seems early in the alphabet for an "alphabetically last" clue. I thought of the Yazoo, which was part of the Vicksburg campaign. It is in fact a national wild life refuge, though Yukon beats it for alphabetically late. Another yahoo here who said Yazoo. I agree V is a bit early, a Civil War men...

If Pasquale had gone DD hunting in the last category maybe he gets lucky.

I read the book in high school and got this one right.

Yeah, I had nothing on this FJ! Could be anyone.

Thanks, alietr, for providing the context. If you asked 100 literate, well-educated people to copy-edit that passage, I suspect none would flag the "a." That in itself demonstrates that it's idiomatic English. It's a terrible sentence though. It meanders all over the place. The diagram would look r...

Re: Tuesday, April 6, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Truman was having a drink with Sam Rayburn when FDR died. FDR was in a cabin so his last presidential decisions were in a cabin. Don’t know if it was sweltering. I drive by Warm Springs yesterday (we are very close to the anniversary of his death) and it wasn’t very sweltering. Side note...highly re...

Didn't see a single hint in this FJ! either. FINAL JEOPARDY! CATEGORY 20th CENTURY AMERICAN HISTORY FINAL JEOPARDY!
