It says in that story that he works for the NYPD. When he was on Jeopardy! I believe he was called a "transit cop," which I'm assuming would be the Port Authority. They're separate from the NYPD, aren't they?
I think they merged after 9/11.

Did you also notice that the player from New York won the trip from L.A. to New York? I didn’t pay attention to the trip destination or hometown but that is funny. The player in the middle said he was a philosophy major but said he was getting a degree in computer science as well due to the realiti...

I managed a 8(4)-6(5) win yesterday. My opponent missed ib and gave me 0 for The Crown (I had no clue) and 1 for pharaoh (guessed messiah). My opponent lives in England so I figured a question referencing college football mascots wouldn’t be in their wheelhouse.

Re: Wednesday, March 10, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The U.K.'s House of Commons uses this 4-word electoral system where a simple majority of votes determines the winner of the race This is wrong. First-past-the-post means that the winner is required to receive only a plurality of votes. That a majority isn't required is the main distinguishing featu...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Alas, not in the resource, either, which only has twenty-two 1987 clues. Although nonspecific, Alex's opening recap somewhat suggests to me that this was not a Monday game. The only date hint from the ads is the Kmart paint sale ending June 2, which was a Tuesday. That probably places this game in ...

I Just picked a Random Bond Book. Didnt work. Same here. I considered Octopussy but wasn’t sure if that was a book title and didn’t think they’d use that title on the show. Would have gone with Spy if it had occurred to me but it didn’t. Put down Goldfinger. “It was the first state” was a bottom ro...

So, why should I have known "township "?
I guessed ghetto.

I was surprised only 13% knew Lash Larue and I have never seen any of his movies.

42R. 1/4 on big clues. Got The Butterfly Effect but missed the others. I'm more familiar with the Ashton Kutcher film than the Bradbury story. For the first DD I had 9 and 15. For the correct answer of 9 and 5 it's weird that they put the bigger number first. It clashes with something. Said conserv...

Re: How Did Ken Do as Host?

After Katie's weeks are over run a poll with all the permutations of the three guest hosts in ranking order. As of today I'm thinking I would go Ke-Ka-M. I’m thinking of putting together a megapoll at the end of the season to rank all of them. I gave Ken an eight. He started slowly but was great on...

Re: How Did Mike Richards Do as Host?

I gave him a 6. Like others, I thought he seemed to be trying too hard at times. Repeating the closing message ten times was a bit much. A bit unfair to compare him to Ken since Ken had 30 episodes and had more time to grow into the job while Mike only had ten.

As a fan of the concept of time travel, this was an easy FJ.

There should have been a BMS on Cartels $1000. They wanted the name of the law and the player just gave the Senator.

I'd be surprised if kids today know anything about radio, let alone Orson Welles classics... :geek: But yes, it was an easy FJ. Yes, saying it was Kids' Week level was facetious. I have a feeling the whole "War of the Worlds" fiasco(s) is something that is slowly becoming less common knowledge as t...

On one or two match days every season, there is a slate of questions that just seem ultra easy and I get 5 correct...and MD 11 was one of those. The only one I missed was the opera question. Apparently, this batch was easy for other people in my rundle, too; there was lots of GREEN showing up on th...

She was a little slow in reading the clues but all 61 got played so no harm, no foul. Snowflakes will be relieved to know she didn’t make any political comments.
PS: Define "Snowflake".
In this case, people refusing to watch these two weeks because they don’t like her politics.

I don’t normally look at their Facebook page but I do “like” it so it pops up in my newsfeed. I saw they posted about Couric being the guest host so I checked it out and it was about what I expected. I am sure there will be more hand wringing with Oz, Rodgers, Cooper, Guthrie, and Whittaker. Gupta m...

If you were in high school in 1981 as I was, there was no way you could not listen to 'Don't Stop Believin'" I'm kind of surprised (as of now) only 40% claim to have listened to that song back then. OK, if you weren't born yet that's one thing, otherwise not sure how you could have avoided it. I wa...
