Who else is left to play? I rather like the four wild cards we have now.

And I too am curious about the planned trip to the county jail.

That's good, because I have 13,000 ;) Fingers crossed!
At this point in time, I'd say 13k will hold up, I'd say I'd change my 11,000 to 11,600. Through three games David has to feel pretty squarely on the fence, and Monica has to be saying "Why didn't I wager 2200?"

These do appear to be higher scores than normal.

Which is interesting, considering how conservatively everyone has been betting. If people were going for broke we'd see a qualifying score easily above $20k.

Damn, why did there have to be so many personable contestants this year?

I guess I'm hoping for Keith and Ashok to win, especially because Ashok went to my alma mater.

Tonight's episode gave us three semifinalists. David and Monica are eliminated after making seemingly safe wagers.

Forgive me on being uneducated on the subject but I am rather new to watching the show on a more regular basis. How exactly does the whole wild card thing work out? Judging by the post above, with David and Monica eliminated, that would mean that there are four spots for the wild card?

Yes, the semifinals consists of 3 games with 3 contestants in each. 9 players. 5 of these are (usually) the winners of the five QF games and the other four are the highest scorers among non-winners of the 5 QF games.

Two of those wild card spots were clinched today, the other two will be determined with the outcome of tomorrow's game.... 8-)

5 quarterfinal games means 5 winners, but there are 3 semifinals (one winner from each to fill out the 2-part final match), so they need 9 semifinalists. Thus they include in the 4 top scores among non-winners.

Thank you all for clearing that up for me. So with one quarterfinal game to go, Dan and Kristin are for sure in for wild card and that puts Jason and Stephanie on the fence. I can't even imagine how that would feel, especially waiting from game 1 to the end of game 5 to see if you've made it through to a wild card spot.

It makes one start thinking about not whether one will drink at the end of the day, but how much and what kind. What started out as beer-level anxiety ended up somewhere around whole bottle of Bombay Sapphire.

Yeah, I was feeling pretty good after QF3. What were the chances that all four non-winners in the final two games would beat my score? Not very likely, I thought.

And then I was beaten rather handily by Dan and Kristin, which meant I was sweating out that final QF game.

I was interested in the limitations concerning the semifinal match-ups, so I typed a list of what the powers that be may have taken into account. Assuming that they wanted to avoid repeat match-ups from the quarterfinals and the regular season...

Colby can play anyone.
Dan CANNOT play Dave, Keith or Kristin.
Dave CANNOT play Dan.
Jason K. CANNOT play Dave.
Jason S. CANNOT play Paul or Stephanie.
Keith CANNOT play Dan, Kristin or Paul.
Kristin CANNOT play Dan or Keith.
Paul CANNOT play Jason S., Keith or Stephanie.
Stephanie CANNOT play Jason S. or Paul.

Assuming they don't care about revisiting regular season match-ups, that opens up a few things. I'm sure someone could give me all of the possibilities, but I wonder if there is a limited amount of match options. The way I'd like to see it (barring the aforementioned conditions) is:

Colby vs. Kristin vs. Stephanie
Dan vs. Jason K. vs. Paul
Dave vs. Jason S. vs. Keith

I don't think this would happen due to the only two ladies being in the same match, but you never know.

Major congrats to Jason and Stephanie for hanging on all week. Major sympathies to Monica, the only QF player to get FJ right and still miss the semis.

Interestingly, you 3 are the only TOC players I recall seeing on here this week.

EDIT: Keith and Dave L have also shown up now. I love this board.

Yeah I highly doubt they'd put Stephanie and Kristin together, them being the last two women left. Maybe switch Kristin with Dan?

friday's game has the two highest-scoring QF winners, plus the winner of probably the toughest QF matchup. hmm.

Not to mention a rematch between Keith and Paul.

ETA: I will predict that Kristin, Colby, and Paul will make the finals after a brutal set of FJs knocks off all three leaders.

So it's:

6,5,4
T,7,4
5,9,7

or

Win, Wild, Wild
Win, Wild, Wild
Win, Win, Win

Nothing against Paul, Jason K. and Keith, but Joon, Mark R. and Roger will still hold its title as biggest Clash of the Titans for a TOC semifinal game.

For these matchups:

Tonight seems wide open for anyone to win especially if Kristin is good Kristin. If she plays like bad Kristin in her poor games then the gentlemen will have a shootout.

FJ success is Jason 1/5, Kristin 2/6, and Dave 4/7 with adding one each for the TOC.
