Unfortunately, that would have given you 17 instead of the 16 you got, so tanking isn't always a good idea in this TD. I would consider it in the questions with fewer answers.

Sully Prudhome (1901)
Andre Gide (1947)

... yeah, i probably should have spent some of that time on the national lampoon question instead.

FYI, I really wanted to participate in this one, as I rarely miss a TD and I loved the concept of this one (plus, I really can't resist a DoT trivia game!), but I got way too busy lately and time slipped away from me. Oh well, good luck to all those who did manage to get an entry in!

I ended up going with Sartre because I knew Camus was born in Algeria and, because of that, wasn't 100% sure he'd be considered French.

Missed this one, but I would have Camused out of it too.

But I would have joined TJconn on the Dorm Daze, so for one shining moment, my score would be great. (Would Dorm Daze 2 have been accepted on appeal, even as a straight to video?)

Great questions.

Camus was the only one I knew, as is the case with most of the questions. I'm just here to add to other people's scores.

DadofTwins wrote:15 -- Fifteen movies in the National Lampoon series have the words "National Lampoon" (or "National Lampoon's") in the title. Name one.

Source: IMDB Title search.

I can't say I've ever been much of a fan of the National Lampoon franchise, but they were prolific enough to make a long list of movies. No incorrect answers on this one, as everybody gave one off the same list as I had. Eleven of the fifteen were given, and no scores higher than 7.
just curious - how would you have handled it if anyone had responded with any of the other movies not on your list that have "National Lampoon" in the title? (The ones not on the IMDB title search). According to Wikipedia, there are many: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Na ... poon_films

Full moon names: September and October are both sometimes called "Harvest," and the December full moon is sometimes called the "Moon of Full Nights." Name one of the other twelve full moon names listed in the Farmer's Almanac.

The current edition of the Farmer's Almanac gives the twelve names I have on my list:

http://www.farmersalmanac.com/full-moon ... and-times/

However, I did not specify the "current edition," and a couple of answers given have appeared in a Farmer's Almanac at some point. So even though it impacts the "Countdown" structure, I'm counting them as correct. The logic is that there was no realistic way to know which names were "current" and which ones weren't without looking them up, which was explicitly forbidden. That, and I am inclined to give players the benefit of the doubt whenever I have good reason to do so.

Incorrect answers and drops will still be scored on the original value of the question.

In peacetime, an officer in the US Navy can attain one of ten rank titles. An eleventh rank title can be awarded by Congress, but only in time of war. (A twelfth rank, "Admiral of the Navy," has only been awarded once and, by law, cannot be awarded again.) Name the title for one of the eleven currently "attainable" ranks.

Right there with you guys. The worst part is that I didn't even intentionally tank these. I just had no idea about moons and navy ranks.
