I thought I may have had 60 for TD 175, but upon checking, that also had 59 participants.

Not even close. I had 73 for TD25 and I'm pretty sure even that's been beaten.

Seems accepting late entries is part of the problem. Completing your scoring and setting up your first reveal is worthless if you're willing to let a new / after the buzzer entry be accepted. Now you need to rescore the game and edit the first reveal. Then, come back to the thread, and hope you don't have to do it all over again with another new entry.

I've always suspected a simmering viciousness on this board, but have been reluctant to say so openly.

ETA: I received a PM questioning my comment, so I should explain that it was said tongue-in-cheek, just a (misguided?) play on the use of the word vicious. I'm certainly not accusing anybody of either explicit or implicit viciousness. Apologies that I didn't make that clear with a ;) or some other way.

That's why I always post the first question immediately following the deadline.

And I never accept late entries. I'm an asshole like that. :)

I think part of the reason for the bumper crop of entries is the previous TD getting cancelled. It looks like people needed their TD fix so badly that they all poured into this one.

Turd Ferguson wrote:So many entrants! It seems that more sports- or sports-friendly TDs would certainly be welcome. Great job with question selection, Bamaman!
It's the accessibility of questions that's the key, imo. If there are more than a couple of questions that non-sports fans can't even take an educated guess at, the entries will be fewer.

I think the large number of entries is due to everyone wanting to be jboarder of the month for April.

The contest is now closed with 60 entrants and I am ready to begin the reveal. Due to the size of the game, don't count on this being done very quickly, it may take a few days.

1. Baseball
Today, most baseball stadiums are named for corporate sponsors. While I understand the economic realities of that trend, I'm sure most fans are like me and yearn for the days when stadiums had unique names that identified them with a city and its team.

I gave a list of ten stadiums and you were asked to tell me which team called it home. A fairly even distibution here. I wasn't surprised the most recent stadium to close was the sheep. I was impressed four people got a stadium for a team that existed for only one season.

The New York Yankees did not play at Shea Stadium on a permanent basis, though they did play there for two years while Yankee Stadium was being renovated in the 1970s.

Unused answer-The Baker Bowl was the home of the Philadelphia Phillies.

I MUST BE HONORABLE

I'm pretty sure I thought the Expos played at Exhibition Stadium, so you should mark me wrong for that one.

I was 90% sure the Phillies played at the Baker Bowl but not enough to go for it. Welp.

I should get bonus points for being an honest man.

How did only 4 go for Ebbets Field? Were you like me and thought that everyone else would go for it?

Nature of the beast. Hey, the only one I didn't know was the Pilots field. I don't know why Griffith seemed less well-known to me than Baker Bowl. Shrug. Coulda woulda shoulda.

Yep, although I pondered Sick's and Jarry as well, but went w/the reverse psychology gambit. Which will most likely blow up in my face really soon, if past TD's are any indication.

Sick's Stadium and The Baker Bowl were unknown to me. Shea seemed the sheepiest to me, so that was out plus I rarely answer NY things unless I have to. I saw no way to distinguish how the others would play. My instincts told me to go with the prior home of the Jays, but my heart led me to Crosley since my Cincinnati-born dad has told enough stories about the place.

Only four for Ebbets Field seems fortunate for those that picked it, but I'm sure this game is going to have those kind of things evening out. The drawn out reveal sounds like torture.

Set a goal to get it done by opening day (The Australia one) on the 22nd.

2. Football
The biggest sporting event in this country is the Super Bowl. Name a city where a Super Bowl has been played. For this question, I want the actual city where it was played, not the name of the major city close by that the media may identify as the host city. For example, there has never been a Super Bowl played in Phoenix, Arizona, but the game has been played in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Any future games that have been awarded but not yet played are considered incorrect.

Every TD game brings about unforeseen issues. One came up with this question. I got the list from the ever reliable Wikipedia. It listed Super Bowl XIX being played in Stanford, California. However, one player wrote and said that the stadium is actually in Palo Alto. I did a little digging and it seems a little vague exactly where it is and Stanford isn't an actual city. So for this question, both Palo Alto and Stanford were accepted and scored as one answer.

Another fairly even distribution. Not really surprised the most recent host sheeped, though Jacksonville being co-#2 sheep was surprising.
