if i ever make it on the show and come across a british royalty category i'm walking off the set.

Finally! After *how* many years I'm not the only Winnipegger here! (And no, I'm not going to stop giving Roger Craig grief over that one every chance I get)
Nice to see you here (hopefully one day we can meet up, you seem like you'd be great to heckle Jeopardy! with) and I hope you do get on, I'm all for Winnipeggers getting on the show, the more go on, the more the CCs realize that they're good for ratings and give a particular moderator a call.

cheers dhkendall! drop me a line if you're ever in the west broadway area. i've got cable and a pretty great couch.
My Name is Tony. I live in a small town in New Jersey, 10 miles from Philadelphia. I have wanted to be on the show since it returned in 1984. I have taken the test many times. By my calculations I have been one or two right answers short. But I will not give up. In 1993 I had took the test at WPVI-6 in Philadelphia. For my efforts I received a mug which states the it was a contestant search and the time of day the show is on at WPVI-6. I am looking at the mug right now. I also took the test at Resorts Casino in Atlantic City. This was when Merv Griffin was affiliated with that casino. Before the ability to record TV shows, everyone who knew me knew this: Don’t call between 7:00 and 7:30. I am watching Jeopardy!, and I will not answer the phone. ( I still won’t answer the phone.)
I recently found this board and so I decided to register and participate. If there are any others from the Delaware Valley, let me hear from you.

... Provided you know that it's them on the line / what their number is.
When I got "The Call", I had been working a lot with someone out in LA, so when my phone rang with an LA number and I was at lunch with my wife, I let it go to voice mail and said, "Eh, I'll call her back later." As we walked out to our cars, I listened to the voice mail and froze in my steps, right in the middle of the street at a busy parking garage and barely got out to my wife: "That wasn't my coworker..."

Good to know that at least they'll leave a message! (unlike my teenage kids.)
Introduction long overdue - I was on the Sony! message board and then signed up here a while ago. I competed on Jeopardy in 2006 and was lucky enough to win 3 games. (Don't underestimate the role of luck in who your opponents are, whether your subjects come up, whether their subjects come up, and whether you get the hang of the signalling device!) Haven't done a lot of trivia in the past few years but got back into it with LearnedLeague.
Tried out for the Chase and got called back, but I think I may have been insufficiently enthusiastic to get chosen to be on the show ... maybe next year
It turns out that, in any case, the H-bomb was also developed under Truman

Similar story here: I have a buddy in the 310 area code, so when I saw it, I thought, "oh, what's Sue calling about?" Then I listened to the message and started hyperventilating.

Anyway, what should I look for on my caller ID?
The Email refers to the email that you get inviting you to an audition. You may not get The Call (an invitation to come to Culver City to tape) after that, which is why The Call is still seen as definitive proof they want you to tape.
As to what to look for on your Caller ID, I don't know as I haven't even got The Email yet, but it seems to be a number in the Los Angeles area, probably in the 310 area code. I get the impression the exact number may vary depending on which CC calls you, so the exact number isn't important.

(Literally) the day before I got The Call, I had booked an audience ticket, so even when I listened to the voicemail from "Glenn from Jeopardy!" asking me to call back, I figured it was a problem with my booking so almost put off calling back until later. I then had to explain to Glen why I seemed so surprised when he told me why he had left a message (I found later than he had also left a message on my landline)
It was well over a year after my audition at that point, and I'd seen two people from my audition on the show already - and figured there might've been others I didn't recognize - so I'd sort of assumed I wouldn't be getting The Call that round.
Hey everyone! I'm Brian from NE Ohio. I've been a lifelong Jeopardy watcher and recently found this board and have enjoyed seeing all of your comments. Like many of you, it would be a dream come true to be on the show, and I'm insanely jealous of all you past contestants. My mom says that back in grade school, I'd run up to her everyday at around 7:20 and say 'Would you like to take the Jeopardy Challenge?' She always said yes. I can't imagine I did all that well at 7, but I like to think i have gotten better in the 25 years since. I take the online test whenever it's open, and got to try out in college when they came to Ohio State. Unfortunately, I have yet to get the call, but am always hopeful. Anyways, I look forward to getting to know you all better and hopefully learn a thing or two for when it's my turn on the show.
Hi, all. I'm Ean, and I'm a 22 year old college student living in Columbus, Ohio. I've been lurking about the board for quite a while now, and something finally urged me to join in the fun (*cough* Harry Potter TD *cough*). When I was in high school I auditioned for the Teen Tournament, which was a complete blast, but I haven't taken any test since then. Here's hoping that will change. Apart from the several weeks of Jeopardy on my DVR, I'm a pretty big Boston-area sports fan as well as a musician. I also enjoy playing in bar trivia with friends, when we get the chance to meet up for it.
Looking forward to finally not be peeking out from behind the curtain all the time, the community here seems really fun.
