I saw a number of comments on how obscure this clue seemed, and as a fan of the artist myself, I felt curious enough to make a poll about it. I was definitely surprised to see this clue in the Teen Tournament.
I thought it might be Case, but I didn't recognize the song and couldn't hear her voice clearly enough to tell it was her. I'm more a fan of her earlier, more country work (Furnace Room Lullaby is one of my favorite CDs); I think I've only listened to The Worse Things Get... once.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Despite listening to this, I don't even recall her appearance ('appearances' according to wiki).
She had one of the greatest interviews I've heard in my time on that show and she's been a guest panelist (not as great but she kept up pretty well with the vets).
Also, despite being a check down the list, I am still very surprised they put this on the Teen Tournament. The College Championship's annual indie rock category fits, they've put similar artists on those lists, but she is so, so out of place on the Teen Tournament. Even that category had three pretty big names, one pretty big name who isn't as big currently but has context hints, and Neko Case.
The clue also has no real hints otherwise. You had to know the song or, if you're daring, get the voice behind the song and suss it out based on the "alternative" genre clue.
