The first guy is real (but spelled Kulakofsky, and only one of several putative origins of the sandwich); the second guy is not, but the name (usually given as "Wellingdon", not "Wellington") is from an old factoid.

I just saw that on February 27th (I think), Netflix will be trotting out the Alex Collection, the Cindy Stowell Collection, and the Seth Wilson Collection.

In Youtube will watch local version "Jeopardy!" from my country (Poland) and old version from Turkey - host version on this country in two years (2016 & 2019) represented... San Marino in Eurovision Song Contest. In last year that man qualify to final this competition.

There was an average of about 15,000,000 viewers per day, so I think this will be renewed for Season 2. :D

I'm a month and a half late with this response. It's nice to have a listener! Thanks!

We don't try to aim for snarkiness, though I know it has happened. We look at what I call "forgotten TV", whether it is bad, short-lived, bizarre, etc. We're equal opportunity annoyers. :D We try to look at each show from critical and informative perspectives, as well as relying on information in archives from when the show aired. We also watch some of each show, if possible. (For the record, we love Jeopardy! One of us has been on the show, while I am in the pool.)

We appreciate your feedback, positive or otherwise. Thanks for listening!
Bamaman wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2020 3:21 pm There is a podcast called “It was a Thing on TV”. It is three guys reviewing really bad short lived TV shows from the 1970s and 1980s. They seem to base their reviews off YouTube and Wikipedia articles.

To give you an idea of what it is about, here are some shows they have reviewed:

Hello, Larry
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Supertrain
Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour

This week, they did the Super Jeopardy and Monopoly pairing.

Most of their snark was directed towards Monopoly. I never saw it, but it sounds like a hot mess.

They seemed to like SJ and J in general. One of the hosts said he has been on the show and has mentioned it before. His name is Chico Alexander, but I couldn’t find him in the archive, so that may be a fake name as he sounded too young to have been on in the less fully archived seasons.

They gave a good rundown of the format and listed all the players who participated. (They did seem to think the four player deal was strange).

Then one of the other hosts mentioned playing Michael Rankins in a mock Jeopardy game at a trivia convention. The guy calling himself Chico said he once met Burns Cameron at one. Jeff Richmond also got a shoutout when one said he pops up as a friend suggestion on Facebook.

Anyway, it was a fairly interesting listen if you are into that sort of thing. They also plugged the GOAT tournament as a lead-in to the SJ discussion.
Maggie, call me.

I think it's going to be some of the episodes they currently have on Hulu under "The Best of Alex". Those episodes have categories where Alex Trebek recorded the clues on-location. Seth Wilson's run will likely not have his ToC episode and his All-Star Games episodes, as Buzzy Cohen's only had his regular run. Hulu also streamed Matt Jackson, Julia Collins, and Sandie Baker's runs. Julia and Sandie only had their regular episodes, but Jackson also had his Tournament of Champions (which would later be on Netflix). Since Netflix always has 45 episodes, "Celebrating Alex" will have 25 episodes (Cindy Stowell's run was 7 episodes, while Seth Wilson's run was 13 episodes, counting their losses).

Hulu has the November 11-16 episodes of the 2016 Teen Tournament. It looks like they won't have the first two quarterfinal games. They will add the other two semifinal games, the finals, and the 2017 Teachers Tournament. They show November 17-18, 21-22, the quarterfinals for the 2017 Teachers Tournament, and the first semifinal game of the Teachers Tournament with an "Upcoming" tab on the Jeopardy! page.

I was right. I will provide more information on the episodes when I finish them. Netflix has all but a few of the episodes Hulu has.

Do you know which 3 episodes on Hulu aren't on Netflix? I prefer using Netflix, but I have Hulu too, and just want to know which ones don't overlap. I assume Netflix is a subset of Hulu, since Hulu lists 28 "Alex" episodes, while Netflix only has 25 - because they seem to get 45 episodes at a time.

There are actually 30 episodes on Hulu, so five are not on Netflix. February 26, 2009, January 6, 2010, February 16, 2010, June 21, 2010 (Paul Kursky Game 4), and November 1, 2013.

There's a mistake that I just noticed. Netflix has Seth Wilson's 1st game (September 19, 2016) twice, so his 11th game (October 3, 2016) is not on Netflix.

Thanks for the info - I still show only 28 "Alex" episodes on Hulu online, so I wonder what I'm missing.

It's never a good sign when you're playing along with FJ!, and Alex says, "I hope none of you put down X", and X is exactly what you have.

I also see 28 episodes on Hulu under "The Best of Alex", so I guess they took down two episodes.
