Matt and Amy are clearly exceptional players - I think they'd have a good chance at reaching and winning the ToC any year. However, the dominance - the percentage of runaways... I think it's the casting. Too many shows are over as soon as the first DD is found. I don't think the clues are noticeably easier or harder (clearly an effort to focus more on world and African-American history, but a reasonable one in the spirit of the game).

In this day of online auditions more than before there’s no way casting can tell who would be any good on the buzzer.

We’ve seen countless players in the past who we had high expectations for, and didn’t win at all because they lost the buzzer race.

Knowledge alone doesn’t cut it here…but it sure helps 😀

Kinda the media ... per Amy's FB page, yesterday she was robbed and lost her ID/cards/phone. Shook up, obviously, but physically she is fine.

Imagine if someone dug up a police report and found out it happened in Culver City (or anywhere in L.A. area).

Not really J!, but Mayim Bialik will be on Live with Kelly and Ryan tomorrow. The hosts and Gelman are back in separate homes due to increased Omicron protocols and caution. Mayim will likely be in CA for the interview at 6:25ish PT. I expect the chat to be more about the sitcom than J!

Someone mentioned her mugging in a post on the Jeopardy Facebook page about her Monday game.

Someone else then wanted to know if she had to play her game after being attacked. 🙄

Depends on how long her streak continues and what the tape dates are 😀

NYTimes: ‘Jeopardy!’ Keeps Seeing Winning Streaks. Champions Ponder Why.

Amy Schneider isn’t the only one on a roll. Just a dozen players have won 10 or more games, half of those in the past five years, and a quarter in this season alone.

“I lost and still think it’s the greatest,” he said, still savoring his “shining moment” of having run the “Shakespeare” category. “In 20 years, when I am eligible to qualify again, will I take the ‘Jeopardy!’ [application] test? Damn right I will! And I’ll take performance-enhancing drugs to increase my reflexes.”

20 years??? When did that happen??????
