Summer Hiatus Challenge -- Round 5, Day 6
*Shakes fist at sky*
SHORTZ!!!!
Ahem.
Yesterday I was listening to the podcast of the Weekend Edition Sunday Puzzle and putting the finishing touches on a couple of categories for Round 6. One of them, which I've been working on for six months, was "Celebrity Palindromes." It was going to be basically free points -- I create a palindrome and you tell me the celebrity whose name would complete it.
Well.
Yesterday, SHORTZ!!! announces that for the next two weeks, his puzzle is going to be having readers create, you guessed it (or heard it on the radio), celebrity palindromes. The winner will be the person who comes up with the best one.
So since somebody else is already doing the category in another format, the SHC version will have to wait.
Feel free to shake your fist at the sky now.
When you're done, scroll down and begin R5D6.

TINY MYTHOLOGICAL CREATURES
2: In Spencer's epic poem, Gloriana was the name of the queen of these creatures, described in other places as tiny magical beings with human form.
4: This elf-like sprite gives its name to a style of haircut popularized by Dorothy Hamill.
6: From an Irish word meaning “small body,” this race of elves is believed to reveal hidden treasure to the one who catches it.
8: The Shetland Islands are said to be home to trows – shorter, uglier versions of this creature which gives its name to a fishing method.
10: Svartalfheim is the realm of these creatures who, in Germanic mythology, are associated with mining and metallurgy.
DOUBLE TALK
by Jeffrey Gallup.
3: The Roadrunners' cry.
6: A Britishism for good-bye, it was popularized in a 1941 BBC program.
9: This 1953 Cole Porter Broadway musical named for a French dance was condemned by Nikita Khrushchev for its raciness.
12: The title of a 1960s book by Pauline Kael, it supposedly is Pacific island pidgin for a movie, especially of the Hollywood type; also the title of a 2005 movie with Robert Downey Jr.
15: A young Chinese pianist, he performed at the 2008 summer Olympics and was termed "the hottest artist on the classical music planet" by the New York Times.
