Total brain fart on Okinawa. Saw Japan, O and spoke too soon. Wagadoogoo is the best name for a capital on earth.

LOL- even the correct spelling looks wrong. I've no idea if I ever tried that one before eventually settling on my misspell.

I KNEW there was some reason to read Pericles -- it's just taken me 25 years to realize it!

Anyone think that those of us answering "Pericles" without his epithet "Prince of Tyre" are going to be negged?

Full Shakespeare titles include The Tragical History of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark and Othello, the Moor of Venice, but they aren't often referred to that way.Woof wrote:Anyone think that those of us answering "Pericles" without his epithet "Prince of Tyre" are going to be negged?
I think Pericles should be OK.

That was my immediate reaction on reading that post as well!Rex Kramer wrote:No way! Ouagadougou wishes it were Antananarivo!mennoknight wrote:Total brain fart on Okinawa. Saw Japan, O and spoke too soon. Wagadoogoo is the best name for a capital on earth.

On the Japan question, I was stuck between Osaka and Okinawa, and for some mysterious reason I felt it in my gut that Osaka was a city and Okinawa was a prefecture. Between that, my two successful guesses in the Shakespeare category, and my clam on the last one when none of the play titles flitting through my head were Pericles, it was a good day.

(BTW, when I was 14, Burkina Faso was my favourite country (and consequently Ouagadougou was my favourite capital city). Yes, I was an even more ginormous nerd back then.)

Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast (no “Côte d’Ivoire” for me, thank you; I’ll start calling it that the day they stop calling my country “Les États Unis d’Amérique”).debramc wrote:I don't know, I'm especially fond of Bujumbura, Burundi.Rex Kramer wrote:No way! Well, I’m partial to Paramaríbo, Surinam. Also Ljubljana, Slovenia. And how about Ashgabat, Turkmenistan? (I remember when that one was just good old Ashkabad, but then I also remember when it was Byelorussia and Moldavia and Kirghizia instead of Belarus and Moldova and, God help us, Kyrgyzstan.)dhkendall wrote:Are there any truly awesome capital cities that AREN'T in Africa?

I'm partial to Dili as well, but mainly because Dili means insane in my native language, Hungarian.
Clammed on Pericles as it was a coin flip with Timon for me. Anybody have any good easy ways of distinguishing between the two for J! purposes?

Glad I wasn't the only one. It seems that Osaka is a Prefecture, too (though it's capital is Osaka) Oh well. Ouagadougou was in my "Location" field on the old board.mennoknight wrote:Total brain fart on Okinawa. Saw Japan, O and spoke too soon.
Oh, and for the longest time I thought that Okinawa was a separate country, thanks to Mr. Miyagi - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-FGZLTep0g

Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei! But I will admit that I just love the mellifluous sound of Lilongwe, Malawi.dhkendall wrote:Are there any truly awesome capital cities that AREN'T in Africa?

You ruined my day - I was of course blissfully unaware of my typo.tagNV wrote:I don't normally make snarky comments about peoples' solutions...but I find it deliciously ironic the letter gnash left out of one of his Whirled Capitals is the most significant one in his gnickgname.
I'm about to get smack-talked, aren't I?
Well, I am at the mercy of DoT and the scorer. Of course I know how to spell Kingston, but, then again, it was an anagram category...
