Sports Jeopardy! Ep. 14 (12/24/14) [Spoilers]
Yikes, I hope mbclev does not watch. ETA: Mark had the last DD so he could have made up any difference necessary to still lead.
The scoreboard code was:
10 - 30
19 - 36
Poor Bobby Hebert is already a forgotten memory. I remember him playing for the Oakland Invaders.
50/50/90 for me on the FJ! clue guessing Rodman instead of the Round Mound of Rebound.
7/14 for the season, so I need a hit to close out the year next week. Sports in FJ! clues:
Basketball: 4.5
Baseball: 4
Football: 3
Horse Racing: 1
Soccer: 1
Golf: 0.5

I remembered Bobby Hebert. Also Don Garlits.
My guess for FJ was Rodman, too. I thought he was taller, and I never would have thought that Barkley is only 6'4".

ALso of note: THe first round DD was gotten right, but not phrased properly. It was caught after the second commercial break and was negged because of phrasing. This scenario happened once on the Trebek J!, and only during the DD are they called wrong for not phrasing properly in the first round.

They didn't neg it though. They just took away the 1,500 he got from the correct response

Christmas Tree Lights! I got a TS, but not much else. Fosbury Flop and Ralph Kiner. Bobby Hebert will live forever in "Seinfeld" reruns.

Brutal board. Seems like the clues have gotten tougher and tougher as we've gone along.
12/24: 8,500 (FJ: )

During the chat, one guy said a question on the qualifying test was the southern most city to host the Olympics. That seems really hard unless you are up on Australian geography.
I considered Rodman, but he seemed taller than that, so I settled on Barkley as a total guess.

Spoiler
Jesse Owens' time in the finals of the 100 meters at the Berlin Olympics.
I wasn't sure of my stats so I looked them up and I am 8-6 in SFJ!7/14 for the season, so I need a hit to close out the year next week. Sports in FJ! clues:

Dan said they took the top 160 players to be on the show. I think they said they are doing 50 games and then the finals. So were the other ten alternates? I hope those left out were all locals because it would suck to fly out there and not be on the show.

Does anyone know if they taped all the episodes yet? I posted this in another thread but didn't get a response. I'm guessing no one knows?

I thought the 1500 and 2000 clues in Drag Racing should've been switched. If there's one name to know in drag racing in the past 20 years it's John Force.

March 21, 2006: a contestant gets credit for the first round DD despite not phrasing it right. Alex says they don't penalize in the first round for not phrasing, and then after the first commercial break, they decided to penalize her for not phrasing anyway. ISTR Alex saying they penalize people for not phrasing on the first round DD only, but not on other first round clues.

Fixed that for ya!jpr281 wrote:I thought the 1500 and 2000 clues in Drag Racing should've been switched. If there's one name to know in drag racing in the past 20 years it's John Ashley Force.
But seriously... I can't remember now, was Big Daddy Don Garlits the $1500 clue? Big Daddy was the one name to know in drag racing in the 50 years prior to that.
Sheepin' it real.

*nod* Long ago it was Big Daddy, Don Prudhome, and Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney. A bit later on, there was John Force, Cruz Pedragon (and maybe the late Scott Kalitta and his dad, Connie). Nowadays, there's still John Force, his daughter Courtney and Erica Enders.TheyCallMeMrKid wrote:Big Daddy was the one name to know in drag racing in the 50 years prior to that.
