Where do you get a screen like that? I'm not questioning its validity, just curious.MinnesotaMyron wrote:

Also, what is the significance of the DJ logo appearing in full screen, which that other poster has been talking about? Is that something that was known to have begun on a certain date, or what?

It's called the leader card, and it's attached to every episode. Your TV affiliate trims it off before broadcast. Most likely, the ultimate source of Myron's tape was somebody who worked at a TV station.

Re: J!-Archive
The significance of the DJ! logo appearing in full screen I was referring to was shown after the 2nd commercial break was over, which appeared in that style every 2 episodes of the week and not every 2 Game #s. Don't be surprised if we see Randy Amasia's 2nd game aired April 23, 1986 and we see the DJ! round logo appearing in full screen mode after the 2nd commercial break is over, because by the very start of the 3rd season, the DJ! round logo appearing in the full screen mode after the 2nd commercial break on the 2nd and 4th episodes of the week became permanent for the next 5 seasons.jeff6286 wrote:Where do you get a screen like that? Usually, anyway. Half the time it's shown here. Of course, this affiliate also tends to cut to commercial several clues before the J! round is over, so what the hell do they know? Let's just say I'm very grateful for the archive!Robert K S wrote:It's called the leader card, and it's attached to every episode. Your TV affiliate trims it off before broadcast.

Channel 7. I don't even have to look that up.billiej wrote: WVII
Just to be hyper-correct, the graphic itself is properly called the "slate" -- it's part of the leader, which usually also includes color bars, test tone, and a minute or two of inky blackness.

I've seen the slate pop up a few times over the years, but its not a regular occurance, just a forgetful programmer.

Re: J!-Archive
We have had posters in the last few threads start new threads for games they've found on youtube. Could we have this thread stickied so people can post games they've found that ren't archived? It would make it easier for the wonderful archivists if they were all in one htread, as well as promoting the archive for newbies who find this place?

Oh, sorry. This can't be archived, since the video was removed by the user.Bamaman wrote:MinnesotaMyron wrote:Go ahead and post any links you find. Re: J!-Archive
What exactly do you mean, Myron? You did half the game and then it was removed? Or you have another tape somewhere?

I believe that was the game where they experimented with throwback technologies. The J! Round clues and responses needed to be chiseled out in cuneiform on a stone tablet.jeff6286 wrote:Wow, the "Less than a minute to go" warning in that J! round must have come really early!Volante wrote:Zing.MinnesotaMyron wrote: Okay.
Had they gotten through the first round, things would have picked up a bit in DJ (semaphore) and FJ (Aldis lamp).
