If you missed it, maybe your local TV station preempted my episode for breaking news about the San Francisco earthquake, just as Game 3 of the World Series was about to start at Candlestick Park. The Oakland A's eventually won every game and retired as undefeated champions. Unfortunately, I did not. But I still have hopes of being in the J! Archive some day.
If you have tapes of your broadcast (granted, given the circumstances you detail, they'd be hard to come by (I pity those whose game was to air 9/11/01 (or even any day that week since then), as they'd have a harder time), let the Archivists know and we might be able to make your non-million-dollar-lotto-winning-private-Caribbean-island-owining dreams come true!

I just want people to know that, despite my title, I've never had a relationship end because I cheated on my significant other. That is all. :P

GSN did air the 9/11/01 episode for what for most people was the first time on 6/21/05. The 9/11/01 episode of Wheel might be harder to come across, assuming it didn't air in reruns the following SUmmer on the following year on Saturday night reruns.

Also, I demand that these be hereditary titles.
I move that to Rex's titles shall be appended "Lord High Everything Else."

Is there a label for those of us who have been in the pool so often our feet have turned prune-y?

I'm not currently in the pool, as I passed the quiz last February but was passed over for an invitation to a live audition. I expect to be taking the plunge again next time the quiz comes up, and you can label me whatever seems appropriate.

How about "Auditioning since 1985"? That was the first of my many attempts to get onto the show. Actually failed that test, but have since passed many times in a row without a trip to a podium.

Years ago I read anarticle in my local paper about locals who had been on game shows. One of the people interviewed in the story said they had been in the 9/11 WOF episode.

Since I have no plans to brave the signalling device, my greatest claim to JBoard fame is that I edited its PHP to calculate our weekly FJ poll percentages the way we wanted (helped by references recommended by others). Maybe I can be dubbed the "Resident phpBB Programmer" or some such.

BTW, If there are any other minor customizations wanted, I am still unemployed, so I can have another go at it (especially now that I have all of the source code and have been inside it once).

But I would never join a club that would accept me as a member*, and I would never ask for a title you'd be willing to give me.

* (And obviously, the title "Groucho Marx" cannot be given to anyone other than dhkendall.)

Ahem.

(The above user has about as much right to it as I do, but I do admit, we'd be the front runners (followed by Budphrey, who used to have Harpo as his avatar on the Sony boards).

However, if I get on the show, and my story of meeting my wife while dressed as Groucho is chosen by Alex ("How I Met My Wife" stories seem to be picked a lot from the cards) then my eligibility soars ahead of Mr. Hackenbush there.

As I no longer sport the mustache and haven't smoked a cigar in 10 years (eyebrows still intact, though), I'll gladly relinquish claim to the title. Tanking at the end of the Marx Brothers TD also didn't help.

Besides, if the J Board had had less wordplay and more drinking, I could have just as easily entered the arena as my other nom de plume de choix, "EgbertSousé".

Much more appropriate than a story about being dressed in "a fabulous dress".

Reminds me of my current dilemma as to what to dress as for Halloween. My Toastmasters group is having a Halloween meeting on November 2, and I decided, since I've done Groucho for several years now, to go as Jamie Hyneman from Mythbusters since I now have a similar beard and moustache combo (as attempted to demonstrate in my avatar - moustache not nearly as awesome as Jamie's though) - noticed the similarity once while I was wearing a white dress shirt . (I'd only need o buy a bald wig, I own a couple of berets, so that's taken care of).

Now, I recently found my work is having a dress-up contest for Halloween - Groucho would probably be best there, as that's a distinctive costume (Jamie is, after all, a regular person, and I've already worn the "outfit" (at least from the ears down, that is sans bald head and beret) to work several times already. Plus, I'm not sure if everyone there knows who Jamie Hyneman is. But, since I have a beard as well, I'd have to shave it for Groucho, and there's no way it would grow back in time for Toastmasters two days later.

David, David, David. Remember your phrasing. That's "my story of meeting my wife dressed in my Groucho costume." (For the next part, I'd recommend you have a cigar handy.)

Actually, yours is just as ambiguous. How about "my story of meeting my wife while I was dressed as Groucho".

And not touching the cigar part. As Freud said, "sometimes a cigar, is just a cigar".

"How she got in my Groucho costume, I'll never know!"

Right?

Since we are self-ranking, I'll take: 'just a man like any other'
