Frustratingly vague Final Jeopardy. Not a fan of that kind of clue. (I did guess correctly, but it was a straight-up guess.)

I also guessed correctly, but there was really nothing to go on but just a guess unless you were familiar with the quote.

Kind of a bleah game. I did like the wagers. The trailers had scores too small to realistically expect a wild card, though I might have held a dollar back to top any other zero players this week. The little me wearing horns and a holding a pitchfork was hoping the leader also bet it all, but making the MSB was the right choice.

I knew all five of the music clues, but could only pull Bieber and Brown in time.

NHO "plank" in the political context. Poll request?

Princess Diana seemed a bit tough for $200 for the college crowd, but I wouldn't protest it as undervalued in a regular game.

No guess in any of the clues in Which Month.

I haven't watched BoJack Horseman, but many of my friends like it, and I've been meaning to try it.

Not a fan of this FJ! clue. Very wide open with too little TOM.

I'll go further and say that clue is straight up awful. I guessed it right, but whoo-boy, I'm not sure what the writers were thinking.

How many drinks in Vegas does one have to down to confuse the Luxor pyramid with the Hard Rock?

At more than double their age, did an old man dance upon answering a current pop music question that was a TS.

Nice FJ wagers by all three!

I pre-called Grand Canyon since it best fits the category, but thought I remembered a story from somewhere about Teddy Roosevelt chilling out in Yellowstone, so I went with Yellowstone. Agree on the vague clue.

Columbia is one of my two alma maters, so I was happy with the result of the game.

Among myself and the contestants, there were four different, yet equally wrong guesses (I said Rushmore, although that one doesn't really make sense). That's a sign that the clue MIGHT be a little too unpinned.

I flipped a coin between the Grand Canyon and Old Faithful, and came down on the geyser, due to the Roosevelt connection to Yellowstone. Did not like this FJ, because the only hint in the clue leads you to the wrong answer (unless you know the quote).

I also guessed correctly, but there was really nothing to go on but just a guess unless you were familiar with the quote.
Here's the full quote:

"The Grand Canyon fills me with awe. It is beyond comparison—beyond description; absolutely unparalleled through-out the wide world... Let this great wonder of nature remain as it now is. Do nothing to mar its grandeur, sublimity and loveliness. You cannot improve on it. But what you can do is to keep it for your children, your children's children, and all who come after you, as the one great sight which every American should see."

They could have maybe used something like

Teddy Roosevelt said it "fills me with awe...the one great sight which every American should see."

Old Faithful is cool and all, but I don't think it as awe-inspiring as the Grand Canyon.

Congrats to Emily on becoming a semi-finalist. I had 43 correct responses including these triple stumpers: Chris Brown, plank, Panama, extremes, recall, Metropolitan Opera, Luxor, marble, and Swede. I also got the missed Daily Doubles of exit polls and Booker T. Washington. I got FJ before Alex finished reading the clue, but it was just a guess.

I forget the exact wording of the clue so I probably am very wrong, but I said "stump (speech)" for the clue about politics vs. lumber where the correct response was plank.

Yuck that was not a fun game to watch. As much as I was very excited to see my friend win, there were times when I just wanted to throw something at the TV. Missed FJ! because I misconstrued the quote to be from the famous picture with him and John Muir on top of El Capitan. The wagering wasn't bad, though; the trailing players' scores were low enough that they had to wager everything to have a shot and the first player's score was high enough that she could wager to win and be in position for a wild-card (somewhat anyhow).

The FJ clue said "one great site", singular. Not an entire park, but the lone greatest natural wonder in the US. This was the key phrase, not TR. Parsing the clue correctly leaves only one answer. Don't try to make things too complicated in a college tournament.

Sight, not site.

So instead of overcomplicating, read between the lines with an electron microscope to gather the most nuanced twist of the words ever?

Possible poll choice: I got Monday's FJ because I recognized the quote. I sure as hell won't be checking it.
