Toyota started making Corollas long before they started making Camrys, and the Corolla is very popular in parts of the world that favor a smaller car than folks like here in the U.S.TenPoundHammer wrote:Corolla is the most popular Toyota? I never would'vguessed that.

Heh. I admit I hate it when Alex talks about the money as though it's real, so that's fair. What I meant was that ringing in cost Joe 2000 "dollars" and the game.bpmod wrote:Well, not $2000 and the game. It cost him the game. But, in any event, Ellen gave him back $1000 of it.opusthepenguin wrote:Ouch. Poor Joe. He was one clam away from winning. All he had to do was sit tight on that final clue. Ringing in cost him $2000 and the game.

My first was a Corolla. A real piece of crap! After quite a few good to great games, we got this. Lots of TSs & 2/3 missed a gimme FJ. I don't think AT likes Buzzy for some odd reason.

Yes, I got barrette since that is the most popular mispronunciation for my last name by telemarketers.
Buzzy missed 2 Daily Doubles and a FJ! clue an opponent solved, yet still won the game for not the easiest path to victory. Of his opponents gave him an assist with wagering and guessing at the wrong time.
Yes, AT was not nice to Buzzy during story time and owed him an apology during credits. Buzzy should have tried the old joke. How did he get to Carnegie Hall? Practice.
Tonight's FJ! clue would have cost me a side bet as I would have covered up to $25 or so that no way that clue only goes 1/3. 1927 famous American = Lindbergh. 33% quite surprised me.
Joe got an extra $1000 for sole solving the FJ! clue although a little more game discipline could have given him an even bigger reward.
Jerry: If you are still reading here, your reaction to that being tonight's FJ! clue a day later?
We already know Andrew's reaction to it.
Based on the correct response to last night's FJ! clue and the one tonight (about a dozen times combined over the years) I will guess another old favorite with Pygmalion or Lord of the Flies tomorrow.

Alex also insulted Buzzy after an incorrect answer in DJ. And if that guy yesterday missed such an easy FJ, I'm not sure he would have gotten tonight's.

You think a status-symbol hybrid is the best-selling car of all time? Sprinkles are for winners.
Re: Wednesday, April 27, 2016 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]
Probably a home-field disadvantage to me, as the family car is a Prius. And I know literally no one else who owns a Toyota. Then again, that could be because I live in Michigan, where owning a car not made by the Big Three is still punishable by taking a great big mouthful of cod liver oil.BigDaddyMatty wrote:You think a status-symbol hybrid is the best-selling car of all time? Ellen also loses if they both get it right and Buzzy wagers something like $2,999, which would be logical in this situation if Buzzy thinks Ellen will wager to win on the double stumper.

I had 32 R...4W and an Instaget FJ. There were several others I didn't attempt because I wasn't sure but was correct, had I attempted them.
J: TV (4) Letters (1W) Nicknames (4) Autos (3R 2W) Sleuths (2) Sweets (2)
DJ: Lord (4) 12-Letter (1R 1W) Soundtrack (1) Architects (3) Medicine (4) Isles (3)
I also got the following TS: P.D. James, Conscription, Parrot and Russia. I credit the long-forgotten film "Whatever Happened to Aunt Alice?" for forever linking Psittacosis with Parrot Fever in my mind.

I actually considered that as a bet for him. But that is putting too much faith in someone else knowing how to wager from second place. I would hate to lose from the lead if I made a strategic bet and she had bet $9,599. Much better to juts make the savvy MSB.Vermonter wrote:Ellen also loses if they both get it right and Buzzy wagers something like $2,999, which would be logical in this situation if Buzzy thinks Ellen will wager to win on the double stumper.

This is a good time for me to recommend "One Summer: America, 1927" by Bill Bryson. Read it!

I loved Alex's comment at Buzzy's reveal: "He picked the wrong correct response." Um, yeah, sure, Alex.
Add me to the list of people shocked by a single get on this one.
I will not rest until I hear the story of Buzzy's name.
