An average week; still surprised that a Le Carre get wasn't near-universal.

Audrey Hepburn Tuesday. Thought of a couple of others, but Katherine never crossed my mind.

Blanked on Spike.

Lost a Koin flip on the first name for Tuesday's FJ, denying me a fifth 5/5 week this season. I think I'm 65/95 now.

I only got Wednesday's FJ.

The funny thing is that, I've been watching both the UK and the Australian versions of The Chase lately, and I remember one of the episodes having the same question as Jeopardy did about Cicero this week. But I couldn't remember the name, so I blanked on that one, too.

I had PA only because I remember seeing this fact on the Empire State Building website about 10 years ago and wrote to the website asking about that because from what I learned about dead-reckoning navigation techniques, the PA border would be too far from the 85th floor observatory (is it 85th?).

They wrote back and explained you can see the Pocono mountains because of their height.

My 2nd pick was Rhode Island, wish I remembered more about that webpage...

My first instinct on the Tuesday question was Julie Andrews -- didn't make many movies and got nominated for Mary Poppins and Sound of Music -- but alas, still too many movies in the period of time and too late for the first one.

Made me wonder: given the Hepburnian confusion there, would the PtBs make sure to ask for first name and last name -- and would that tip off the contestants that it might be a Hepburn?

JBoard is a wonderful resource that answers most of my questions. Thanks, Game Thread participants!

A miss on Tuesday, in a very strong category no less, cost me my first perfect week.

Went with "Bette Davis" and didn't even thank of Katherine Hepburn. Argh!

Knew Monday was Georgia but couldn't come up with Oglethorpe's name. Said Calvert to have something.
Audrey Hepburn.
Massachusetts and Rhode Island; I always forget how far south New York City is, so no Pennsylvania. At least I stopped myself from saying Vermont/New Hampshire.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Monday: I never would have guessed Oglethorpe, despite the fact that I have lived in Georgia for practically my whole life. Winthrop and Williams were the only names that came to mind, and I guessed the latter.

Tuesday: I thought of Audrey Hepburn first, because of the years and because for some reason I thought that she often went several years between roles. Katharine did occur to me since the clue sounded like it may have been implying that it was an actress that was near the end of her career, but I unfortunately stuck with my first instinct.

Wednesday: I couldn't even come up with a guess. I loathe these kinds of clues.

Thursday: I went to the top of the Empire State Building on a clear day back in 2007, but I still had no idea and guessed MA and RI. This was an awful clue.

Friday: I had no idea.

I also had no idea on the first two extra clues. This was not a good week for me.

It's a combination of the fact that there were some other potential choices in the spy fiction category and the fact that some folks could pull up his work but not the name. 50% seems about right.
