Mark, was Audrey the only contestant on today's episode?

Cause if so that's not a lot of questions for only one episode.

No. The previous contestant was Richard Banks. He
Spoiler

used his last lifeline of 50:50 on:

Though it starts and ends at sea level as it stretches from San Francisco to NJ, what highway reaches an elevation of 8,640 feet on WY’s Sherman Hill?

I-80 or I-90 (I-10 & I-40 were eliminated)

He left with 5K after going with the higher of the 2 numbers. In total the show had 16 questions. The 2nd run episode had 16 questions not counting a Thousandaire one for an audience member.

I wss taken by surprise when they didn't hit a commercial after the first five questions. Also surprised there was almost no talking with the contestant.

My recollection is that shows don't necessarily air in their taping order except for special weeks.

Too bad Audrey didn't play WQC this year… that Moby Dick fact appeared (it was outsold by both "Typee" and "Omoo" during his lifetime)

If my own Facebook friends are any indication, there is going to be a lengthy parade of J! alumni on this season.

Oh yeah, I've seen some myself and have been training myself this season to plug each player's name into the Archive to look for hits.

But that's not the name he went by.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

Noticed the same thing. The question said "first name", not "preferred given name".

I first went with A (thinking James Madison, James Monroe, John Quincy Adams), then after seeing it was C, I looked it up. Madison started his presidential term in 1809, not 1829. So for me...

Tyler Crosby continued play on the Sept. 13 episode with this question:
Spoiler
$10,000
Image
Next:
Spoiler
He made an association of "rand" in Witwatersrand to correctly guess South Africa.
Next:
Spoiler
$20,000
Image
Next:
Spoiler
Tyler recognized those were characters for the winners of Best Actor.
Next:
Spoiler
Abraham Lincoln, final answer. (Harvey Milk = Sean Penn, Bad Blake = Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart, King George VI = Colin Firth, George Valentin = Jean Dujardin in The Artist and of course Daniel Day-Lewis.)
Next:
Spoiler
$30,000

Next:
Spoiler
Tyler knew to go for the ear.
Next:
Spoiler
$50,000

Next:
Spoiler
Tyler had the 50:50 & +1 available when he locked in Been a U.S. Senator as his final answer.
Next:
Spoiler
Image
Next:
Spoiler
Tyler used the 50:50 which left 25 days & 25 months.
Next:
Spoiler
25 days was correct.
Next:
Spoiler
Image
Next:
Spoiler
Before he used his +1 Tyler had John Adams dying in the 1820s and Ronald Reagan born 1910ish. (1826 & 1911, so close enough) The +1 indicated fairly strong confidence that Harriet Tubman lived to be close to 100. Tyler seemed to have Charles Darwin eliminated for not having lived for a long period of time. He had doubts about Karl Marx and Rockefeller.
Next:
Spoiler
Tyler decided to walk with his $100,000 and Chris announced that Harriet Tubman was the correct answer. She lived c. 1822 to 1913, so age 90-91 at death. Karl Marx (1818-1883), Charles Dickens (1812-1870) and John D. Rockefeller (1839 - 1937).
Comments:
Spoiler
Tyler played well and exceeded the $1000 he won on J! in 2009. I thought the questions were fun, fair and interesting with appropriate valuations. Those six questions comprised the entirety of the episode.

Those were some great questions.
Spoiler
I'd have been in the same boat as the player. I'd have had to ATA for what Left Eye's group was. I probably also do the 50/50 for the length of the solar day.

I knew Rockefeller lived a long time, but not exactly sure when he died. That is amazing Tubman lived that long, given she was born into slavery and lived a rather rough life and still lived 48 years after the war ended.

Whenever there's a number question, the answer is B or C; and 50/50 always leaves B and C
