To cheer you up, Saturnalia, I have a wrong answer coming up, one that should have been a singleton if I had been a bit smarter.

  • What chain of eateries will happily take its namesake product out of the freezer, toast it, and serve it to you?
UNUSED
Waffle House
Not sure if you've ever been to a waffle house, but they make everything fresh to order. Sure its a greasy spoon type place, but everything is made to order and not taken out of a freezer and reheated. I figured you were asking for waffle house, but the clue did not lead there so I ended up going with Coke. I spent many a Sunday morning in WH around metro Atlanta with my scattered covered and chunked hash browns and ham and cheese omelets.
This. The wording led me away from Waffle House.

So they make the waffles from scratch? Darn. The hash browns are frozen anyway.

Just like the Jones New York soda, you're no worse off than if I hadn't offered that as a choice.

Junior Samples: I lost a quarter million dollars in the stock market yesterday.
Grandpa Jones: How'd you do that?
Junior Samples: The price of hawgs went up and I didn't own a'ry a one.

I also lost on sheep futures by not picking Chick-filet!! Luckily nobody chose the suicide by sheep option for this one!

I wanted to pick Waffle House because I learned to love raisin toast and apple butter there, along with almost everything else, (except- waffles :) -they could be frozen as far as I knew). But the local franchises not only still allow smoking, you get one booth for non-smoking that is surrounded by smokers. And, they don't give a crap.

Thanks, floridagator for all this work, and the extra work to re-post the question really helps for us forgetful ones who submit early so we can have temporary singletons. I am learning things slightly faster than I'm forgetting them. I will soon resume my rightful spot in the bottom 5, and be surprised with each reveal.

Two straight singletons and I'm still closer to last place than first. Edelweiss was the first song my wife and I danced to when we were dating, so it was also our first dance at our wedding. I had to pick it, and glad it was a singleton!

I hate to do this to myself, but...

immaf (Why Would a Fellow Want a Girl Like Her) should be counted as wrong, rather than a singleton. According to Wikipedia, the title of that song is "The Sisters Lament." I wish that musicals followed the operatic convention that the title of an aria is the first few words of the lyric. Alas, they do not.

Off the top of my head, I listed 43 R&H songs. I should have been able to pick a singleton. And I did, except...

Please apply whatever ruling is used here for my response of "Everything's up to date in Kansas City", which you credited as "Kansas City". I'm having a hard time getting to the bottom this time :).
IMHO, your rendering of "close enough, have a cigar" is sensible, but the Gator makes the rules ;) and as Ricky Ricardo says, "No complain me".
Yikes - 43 songs! I can't name 43 states off the top of my head!

For the theme park question, I desperately tried to remember the one I saw across the highway in Orlando from the liquor store, that I knew had the potential to be so-bad-it's-good, but I couldn't pull the name. I also didn't have time before my flight.

409 - TEXAS

Every summer we hear about hatches being batted. Even so, the Gulf Coast is regularly and frequently pummeled by the worst that nature has to offer. Answer a question about one of these Gulf hurricanes.
  • What gem-named hurricane hit the Florida panhandle in 1995 and continued to cause chaos?
  • What Texas city named for the body of Jesus was hit by Hurricane Beulah in 1967?
  • What powerhouse hurricane devastated South Florida in 1992 and then picked up punch over the Gulf and hit Louisiana?
  • What hurricane that shares its name with a 1950s president caused substantial damage in 2008 in Texas?
  • What category 5 storm leveled the Mississippi Gulf coast on August 28, 2005 and whose storm surge caused devastation in New Orleans?
  • Gas prices have still not come down to where they were before this man hit Texas and Louisiana in August 2017.
  • What hurricane which shares her name with a tragic film character devastated New Orleans in 1969?
  • What massive hurricane came up the west coast of Florida in 2017 and led all aircraft to stay out of the entire state?
  • Hurricanes didn't even have names in 1900 when a tremendous storm flattened what Texas city and caused nearly 10,000 deaths?
  • What westernmost Florida city of over 50,000 was hit by Hurricane Erin on August 3, 1995?
