What was the from address on the invite? @jeopardy.com like the usual messages?

Best thing to do is add this email to your contact or safe sender list. That's what I do in gmail, plus I have gmail star and mark important any email from or mentioning Jeopardy. When I got my audition invite in 2017, it popped right up at the top of my primary inbox

What we know is that somewhere around 100,000 people take the online test. Of those, 2500 to 3000 will audition in any given year. The only unknown is the “passing rate” but if we posit that 10% of the test takers get a “passing” score then there’s a pool of 10,000 to choose from. Truly random selection would mean that you have a 25% chance per year of getting an audition, so an 0/10 streak would occur only 6% of the time and the mean time between audition invitations would be 3, FWIW
I would agree with the 10% as I believe the Jeopardy test is harder to pass than other game shows; and for other shows, I've generally seen about a 15% passing rate. The only exception to the 15% passing rate would be WWTBAM when they give the test to the entire audience instead of only people in a room specifically to take a test.

I also know I couldn't win a random drawing if I was the only entrant.
The posited 10% passing may be too high. I attended a "brain-bus" type event in Phoenix in 2007. ~300 took the full 50 question text; 8 passed, for a 2.7 % pass rate. (Grading was on-site; those who passed were called to stay; others excused.) To be among the 300, contestants first had to pass a ten-question screening text, which suggests an even lower passing percentage compared to the completely open online test. I would guess that 1000 to 2000 took the initial screening test. I think the passing score for the screening test was 70%, but it could have been 60%.

If the number of people who pass is < 10 percent, the probability of passers getting an audition would be higher than what was calculated by WOOF - good news for those who pass.

It would be interesting to have passing statistics on others who attended in-person events.

I don't have the exact numbers of people present, but I have done several of the original in-person auditions and I would say the pass rate for those was in the 6-8% range.

I'll just say the typical game show audition (except for WWTBAM when everyone in the audience tests) has a 15% passing rate; I would expect the Jeopardy passing rate to be lower. I always figured 10% wouldn't be a bad guess, but is just a guess.
Total game show career losings = $171,522

I went to one original style audition. Out of a room of 150-200, 4 were kept.

This mirrors my experience in 2005. About 200 people, 7 were kept.

I was 1 of 9 who passed the test out of 63 total in my group for the college tournament audition in 2005. That had to be one of the last college tournament auditions with no online test.
