Adam would be an ideal candidate for the Tournament of Losers that I keep pitching. I would like to see him play again.

Re: Monday, April 29, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Amen. After the initial shock and awe of James's first 5-6 games, my reaction to more of the same has been eyes glazed over. This was the first game in the last 2 weeks that has really fully held my attention. I thought Adam would make this a game after James negged the first clue, Adam beat him to the buzzer on the second to go into a $1,000 to -$1,000 lead. And I really became his fan when he went for the huge DD wager near the end, unlike the woman the night before who was too timid to wager in a similar situation. I hope other people waiting in the Green Room had the chance to see that this is the way to go after this dreadnaught.floridagator wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2019 7:59 pm That was a decent game. I would be much more in favor of James run if more of his games were like this and fewer of them were blowouts that were over dozens of Clues before FJ.
Congrats to James for showing he can win when he's pushed as well as when he's cruising.
Aaaaand, we're back to what has become normal in James's games: zero Lach Trash, making 3 TOTAL TS's that I've picked up in the last five games.

Re: Monday, April 29, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I think in Adam's case, the best hope would have been the type of FJ that is the only one James did miss (the Jane Fonda workout clue)- that is, some kind of milieu clue that contestants who were near adult at the time would almost certainly get, but those that weren't wouldn't be able to solve. From his appearance, Adam had a 1970s 1980s advantage.
Such clues are rare.

A lot is being made of the fact that Adam is the highest-scoring finalist in history.
I don't see a lot being made of the fact that Adam now has the highest first-day score of anyone in history. This didn't click even to myself until last night when I woke up, and that fact occurred to me, and I fell back asleep. MinnesotaMyron: you had a good run, and you still retain the record for highest first-day earnings of anyone in history so there's that.

That's one type of FJ clue that would help a trailing player. But the value of having more than 2/3 of the leader's score is that, with a proper wager, you don't need to get the FJ, you just need the leader to miss it. Therefore, you are happy with a clue like in this game: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=3109Ish wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 11:43 amI think in Adam's case, the best hope would have been the type of FJ that is the only one James did miss (the Jane Fonda workout clue)- that is, some kind of milieu clue that contestants who were near adult at the time would almost certainly get, but those that weren't wouldn't be able to solve. Here's something I'm curious about: Adam's Coryat was $17,000, which was quite good, especially for a runner-up. What is the record for highest Coryat by a contestant who finished second?

i missed all of the others except for brisdemaids...was in the top box...with that clue, wtf else could it have been?TenPoundHammer wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 10:38 amActually, that was the only one I came close to getting. Afterward I was like "Oh duh, Mogwai, I knew that." (On one of the episodes of Wheel of Fortune that taped in the same session as mine, the answer to the Speed-Up puzzle was "Gizmo the Gremlin". Watching from the audience, I admit I was stumped even after the Z was put up.) NHO Mister Magorium or the Shop Around the Corner movie, and didn't know the plots of Bridesmaids or 40-year-old Virgin.

I know that there is a movie called Bridesmaids. I don't know when it was released, who was in it (Kristen Wiig seems like a Hawley-Smoot name, but it rings no bells for me). That left me with just "2010s romcom" and nothing to whittle down the billions of possibilities.Let's just say a store's dress fitting for a wedding does not go well for Kristen Wiig & friends in this 2011 film
