Terrible news.
But, as a wise man once put it, "Keep the faith. We'll win. We'll get it done." And he's winning.

Good luck! I know several people who've gotten past it, including my cousin who, at age 76, had the Whipple procedure. She's 86 now. Keep us posted.

Here is what I learned from the pancreatic doctor today: there are three kinds of tumors: small, medium, and large. They only operate on small tumors. My tumor is currently medium. Therefore I will be going on chemotherapy for perhaps six months to shrink the tumor and its tentacles to an operable size. The tumor rests in the middle of the pancreas.

Thank you all again for your kind remarks.

Add my good wishes to everyone else's. Multiply, if that's allowed.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Well, not great news, but I hope it is good enough news. Best of luck to you, sir.

I just opened this thread and read about your illness. Glad to see it is treatable. Best wishes and prayers for you from a cancer survivor.

Update: my first chemo session is scheduled for August 12th. It will be a "aggressive" cocktail called folfirinox. A port will be installed into me. I will be taking in the cocktail every other Monday, and then the next Wednesday I head back for port maintenance. I don't have to stay in the hospital overnight. I will have three or four cycles of this before I have a CAT scan to evaluate the effects. My brother (a doctor) will be in town to monitor the first cycle.

Shrink that tumor! Best wishes getting on the road to the needed procedure.
