I always thought it odd that the station on Kensington High Street is called High Street Kensington.

Re: TD 428 - Short Quiz on Random Trivia - Scores through Second Bonus
When I considered this question, as a fan of the London Underground, I had to decide from among 40-odd choices. My first thought was to avoid the rail stations (Victoria, Waterloo, Charing Cross, King’s Cross, Paddington and Liverpool St) and more outre names (Elephant and Castle, Marylebone). In retrospect, that strategy was only 50% accurate. My choice of Russell Square was a nod to the British Museum, a must visit for any lover of knowledge.

kings cross went unanswered...i could only name 3 stations...kings cross, wimbledon and the potential sheep picadilly circus....kings cross went unused....have only been to london area 1 time...had a stopover at gatwick airport on my way to hong kong...only went to crawley and went do a bunch of pubs during the 12 hour stop over....so never used the undeground and knew those 3 from tv...took a shot with wimbledon and got a singletonWoof wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 3:00 pm When I considered this question, as a fan of the London Underground, I had to decide from among 40-odd choices. Mornington Crescent was the only one I knew (though I figured Charing Cross was probably a station) and I was really surprised nobody else went for it.

Name any of the 270 current stations on the London Underground. Some station names are similar, so be as specific as possible.

There are some names that just conjure wonderful images. Elephant and Castle was one of those.
Likewise, even though I knew it would sheep, I was so amused to find George Strait among the answers, I had to do that one.

Ooh, a podium appearance - my fall was not as drastic as usual!
Thanks for the fun game, and congrats to my fellow podiumites.

This is exactly how I felt, and his magnetism was such that I had to drop the strait question! It was either George or nuthin'!MollyQMurphy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2019 9:22 pm Likewise, even though I knew it would sheep, I was so amused to find George Strait among the answers, I had to do that one.
Thank you for the great TD, Peachbox. Although shorter than many, it felt meaty due to the wide range of subject matter and instructive sidebars.
And I have to bust the chops of my husband, first time entrant beansandcornbread, who sheeped the first question of his first-ever TD, garnered a few singletons, and somehow left that awesome last Shakespeare-themed question blank when he himself is a Shakespearean actor here in Chicago. Way to go, Slappy! (I suspect you may have tried to alert him about that, Peachbox, but he hasn't been able to log in to his JBoard account or reset his password. We're trying to figure that out!)
Have a great long weekend, everybody!

Thanks for the TD. It is nice to see participation up again - 47 players! Gives more room at the bottom for me! Nothing will rescue me from the next TD coming up unless there are important musical groups named "sheep plus five" from various eras .

Considering I'm usually found in the bottom half, was a very good showing for me. Thanks, Peachbox!
I credit G&S with my singleton on the Underground question. There's a lytic in the "nightmare song" from IOLANTHE: "They're a ravenous horde and they all came on board at Sloane Square and South Kensington stations"

Thanks Peachbox. I do enjoy these TDs, so I'm so glad you stepped up.
My goal was to get into the top half, especially after the last few TDs. so I never thought I'd tie for first!
