Jennifer may not have expected to play 5 games as today's dress & necklace looked like day one's with the only difference being the color of the under layer garment peeking out at the neckline.

Ben had a chance to make the FJ! round count though could not convert DD3. It did not matter as Jennifer knew the FJ! clue.

Alex wondered why Jennifer only bet $1000 and the category probably mattered as Jennifer shows as (small sample) 2/6 for .333 in Film on LL.

My Film is .767 so no way I'm not joining Ben for an insta-write on that one. 1970 Best Picture Oscar winner? Please, writers.

Today's boards were easier than some of the other ones and Jennifer shined with her 25200 Coryat better than Ben & Shane combined. ToC spot assured and now Jennifer can try for superchamp status. On the J! site Jennifer gets the "On a Roll!" status for contestants playing this week.

Shane racked up three strikes today:
Had to be motivated to try out for the show
4800+4000 on DD2
13 years off on his FJ! clue guess

I got it on 1970, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Yes. Best Picture winners are up there with US Presidents and world capitals that you absolutely should try to get down for Jeopardy, or really trivia in general, purposes. Giving the year turned this from more of a puzzle it out to a straight read and react question.

I never did learn them ALL, but knew 1970 pretty quick because of Patton's notable refusal to accept it.

I mean, it's tough to accept an Oscar when you've been dead for 25 years ;)

Now that he’s dead, he could probably just ghost into the vault and take it.

Same here. They could have just said "1970 Best Picture".

Finally, we have a 5+ day champion for the first time in S36. Jason Zuffranieri's run started near the end of last season and continued into the third week of this season.

But congrats to Jennifer on her fifth win.

My kids and I were just talking about the FJ movie last night. In honor of the late Carroll Spinney, we put on "Follow that Bird" on DVD, and Oscar the Grouch does a pre-title parody of the FJ movie's opening.

For some reason I felt very off my game today. Had a lot of clues where I drew a blank, and a lot of stuff that felt utterly unfamiliar to me.

I seem to have this mental blindspot that keeps me from ever remembering where exactly the Caribbean is. I keep thinking it's way further away than it really is.

Started off by bombing History and World Capital Attractions but running Fruits & Vegetables.

What was the TOM for Dublin or Pink Floyd in the top box?

I should've run 21st Century Companies, but just kept blanking on the names for some reason and only got $200.

I ran Double Double O, but recognized nothing except oddly, Marcel Duchamp in Awards & Honors.

Clammed on "great white" because that shark looked very very blue to me.

0/5 in Behind the Music because I refuse to let the name of any Queen song pass my lips. Their music is sheer torture to me.

No guess on FJ! "Patton" is completely unfamiliar to me.

Congrats to Jennifer on the 5-day winnings!

Very bipolar day for me. Got my butt whooped in J!6 (4/12)... lots of negs and blanks on things I should have been able to pull.

Then I banged out 47R/3W for a 40200 Coryat.

But 0/3 on DD.

Then instaget on FJ!

So I don't know whether to think it was a good day or not....

Coryat: $39,600 (51R, 1W)
DD: 2/3
FJ:
LT: Amnesty International (DD)

Very impressive game, only one true piece of Lach Trash.

Instaget FJ, one of the easiest in recent memory.

For Shark-uterie $1600, instead of electricity, I said currents of blood :D

If you've heard of Patton, which I don't think I have.

I made the same mistake. Also clammed on "great white" because that shark was very obviously blue, and "megalodon" since I wasn't confident enough on it.

"Scientists named a shrimp with a pink claw & the ability to emit very loud noises after this band"

I didn't think the answer would actually have "Pink" in it. And I wouldn't exactly call Pink Floyd "very loud".

Two categories where I flubbed the top row, and then proceeded to run the rest of the category - pink pourri and fruits/veggies. Honestly, I thought the whole category was fairly medium and level in terms of difficulty, so I guess I can't blame them for putting pink floyd first. If it had been "pink"pourri, I would have probably hit Pink Floyd with a clue of loud/rock. I've never heard the term "pea souper" - I've heard of "pea soup fog", or "fog as thick as pea soup", but the way the clue was written, I just couldn't get it.

I managed to hastily call out hasty pudding instead of the more seasonal figgy pudding for the Harvard award.

Oscar-winning military movie from the 70s that I haven't seen yet but is on my list of "need to see" movies as I work backwards to see the Best Picture Oscar winning (and then nominee) films? Yup, got it, even if literally the only thing I know about the movie Patton is George C. Scott and the visual image of him in front of an American flag. Although, looking at the nominee list, if you forgot who won and who lost, and were just looking for military movies, MASH would be a tempting neg - it lost to Patton. The next military-themed movie after Patton to be nominated (and win) was The Deer Hunter in 1978, which was too far after Patton to make me even think of it. Same for Apocalypse Now (which was nominated in 1979, but lost.) I guess another reasonable answer would be In the Heat of the Night - it won in 1967, and it's a police drama, but I don't really think of cops "ten-hut"ting to attention.

Nice to have a 5-day champ. Not surprised the made a small bet, as "Oscar" categories can be either really tricky, or really easy. I know they tell the contestants to "think of your score as points, not dollars", which is true MOST of the time...but since it's a lock, she's wagering real money. If you think your odds are under 50%, a 0 wager is actually the smartest wager - and, even if it's near 50, it's okay to be stingy with wagers. Even if I'd just won nearly $150,000 on a game show, I'd think twice about plopping $1000 on red vs black on a roulette wheel without green slots.
