Ann Reinking, dancer, actor, choreographer, and girlfriend/protégée of Bob Fosse, has died at age 71. Reinking won a Tony Award for choreographing the 1996 revival of the musical Chicago.

In 1979, Reinking appeared in Fosse's semi-autobiographical film All That Jazz as Katie Jagger, a role loosely based on her own life and relationship with Fosse.

It is the first holiday song to top the chart since "The Chipmunk Song" ruled in 1959 and gives Carey her 19th number one, putting her just one behind the Beatles for the most all-time.

I was hoping for this! I've finally embraced the weirdness of Billboard's chart methodology, and I love that the Christmas songs pop up again every year. On a related note, "Last Christmas" didn't chart on the Hot 100 until 2016, on the occasion of George Michael's death.

I wonder if it will happen again next year, and if it will count as a second placement, ala Chubby Checkers's "The Twist"
1. I did happen again [this] year, and

2. Apparently so, although The Twist's break was longer (2 years).

Can it make it 3 for 3 in 2021? The smart money is on "Yes".

Two notable nominations for Cabinet positions from a "first" standpoint:
* Pete Buttigieg, former presidential candidate and mayor of South Bend, IN, has been nominated for Secretary of Transportation. He would be the first openly gay Cabinet member.
* Deb Haaland, current House member from New Mexico, has been nominated for Secretary of the Interior. She would be the first Native American Cabinet Member (she is Laguna Pueblo).
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

The current Interior Secretary, David Bernhardt, has tested positive for COVID-19.

SolarWinds is a name that will likely come up, if not in Jeopardy, probably in LL.

They are the company that made the software into which the malware was inserted for the big hack of US agencies. The name of the software is Orion.

Also California's first male senator since the beginning of 1993 (when Barbara Boxer replaced Alan Cranston).

Dan Hodge has died. He was a three time NCAA wrestling champion and an Olympic silver medalist. He never lost a match in his college career. He is the only amateur wrestler to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, appearing in 1957.

He could crush an apple in his hand, even in his 80s.

Fact that may be useful in a trivia contest: The Hodge Trophy, given to the top college wrestler, is named in his honor.

A Hall of Fame hurler and master of the knuckleball, Niekro threw more innings than any pitcher in the past 100 years.

Niekro is the seventh Hall of Famer to pass away in 2020. Lou Brock, Whitey Ford, Bob Gibson, Al Kaline, Joe Morgan, and Tom Seaver all died earlier this year.

After Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich was ejected in the second quarter of last night's game against the Lakers, assistant coach Becky Hammon, already the first woman to be an NBA assistant coach, acted as head coach for the team, becoming the first woman to serve in that capacity as well.
