In sporting news, Major League Baseball has suspended Houston Astros manager AJ Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow for one year after a lengthy investigation into the team's use of technology to steal signs. The Astros were also fined $5 million and stripped of their first- and second-round draft picks in both 2020 and 2021. The $5 million fine is the maximum financial punishment that may be levied under the current major league constitution.
The allegations are that the Astros were using a center-field camera to pick up the opposing catcher's signs, which were then relayed to the bench. Players then alerted the hitter at the plate of an incoming off-speed pitch by banging on trashcans in the dugout.
It's also expected that the Boston Red Sox and manager Alex Cora will soon face severe punishment for their use of cameras to steal signs during their 2018 championship season. In 2017, the Red Sox were fined for using Apple Watches as part of a sign-stealing scheme.
I don't expect that J! will expect contestants to identify any of these individuals by name, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the phrase "stealing signs" pop up on the show either within a clue or as a correct response.
