I don't think it would have ever occurred to me to question this, but your answer is right in the very game this thread covers. Brad's -3600 was changed to 0 before FJ, and his 14,400 from Game 1 was then added to give him a 14,400 total.

Thanks, I wasn't paying attention to his score on the screen. So now this brings up another question. Is there a rule that in tournament finals all the clues must be revealed? Because otherwise, there's a possible perverse incentive for a player with a big lead from game 1 who falls behind in game 2, to buzz indiscriminately and keep giving wrong answers to run out the clock.

No such rule. I found unrevealed clues in the finals of both the Teen and College Tournaments from 2018. Also, there were unrevealed clues in both rounds of the 2017 ToC.

First round matches must play out fully, though, to ensure everyone gets the same chance to accumulate points.

Hans von Walter had -$6,000 after 2010-B College Championship final game 1.
Courtney Bennis had -$600 after 2004 Teen Tournament final game 1.
Irene Grzywacz had -$200 after 1987 Senior Tournament final game 1.

The Archive knows how to compute the cumulative scores right for all these players (i.e., doesn't subtract the negative money).

Now to track down the bug causing the subtraction in Brad's GOAT game.
Came to this thread specifically to look for a citation of me. I echo Roger’s call on twitter for a Players Who Only Play One Day of a Two-Game Total Point Affair tournament

I hope that was not true tonight also.

That was a bad game for Brad. He is a better player than that game brought out. I think the key to the encephalogram encephalograph trap is that the graph is the machine and the gram is the report it issues. That might not be the easiest distinction to make at the speed at which Jeopardy is played, especially this game.
I'd rather cuddle then have sex. If you're into grammar, you'll understand.
