I would love to see Brad win the next match just to keep this going, but at the same time, I will be over the moon with joy if Ken finally wins his first ever tournament game.

That was more fun than a barrel full of monkeys on an infinite number of typewriters writing Hamlet!

I'm unabashedly rooting for Ken to win the tournament, so the fact that he won tonight's match made the evening all the sweeter. And I was able to answer two or three triple-stumpers, so my family was duly impressed. A good night all around. :D

Game 1:

52 R
DD: 3/3
FJ:
LT: Bard/Board, (Melancholia), Morticia Addams

Only 1/5 in Comedians, Sarah Silverman. NHO $1000. I think I have heard of Dennis Leary. The roles for the others were unfamiliar, and I failed to recognize Steve Coogan. Only 2/5 in TV Green Thumb. Only got Weeds and Morticia Addams, which was a great surprise that the three missed that one. My remaining miss was Route 61.

Game 2:

57 R
DD: 3/3
FJ:
LT: (Garnet), Keylogging Programs, Bring Your Own Device, Treatment, Walter Isaacson, Isaac Albeniz

The Radiohead album was not gonna happen. Have heard of Jason Robards, but wouldn't have gotten it. Molly Ivins was my only miss in DJ! Was not too far off with my Granados pre-call for being one of the clues in the tournament as Albeniz showed up in one of the $2000 clues. For FJ!, immediately had Alfonzo Cuaron as he won the Best Director Oscar just last year for Roma. Knew that the other wasn't Guillermo del Toro as The Shape of Water won Best Picture. Then Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon came to mind. Ang Lee it was.

Not looking good for James...sigh. I don't think he's going to win the tournament; I see his legacy getting tarnished.
He may not win, but James has had a run of bad luck. The only one whose legacy might be getting tarnished is Brad, and that could be due to playing against two guys with legendary buzzer skill and knowledge base along with some bad luck (timing of the DDs as well as their difficulty).

James has actually had fairly bad luck to this point but has done quite well.
Is there a possibility that James will be brought back after GOAT?

Looks like Brad will finally "lose to a human being" by the time this tournament is done. How many matches are there in total?

The writers stepped up their game for prime time! Fun categories. I just wish one of them would have finished Lizzo's lyric the other day for the category "I took a DNA test".

(Missed some questions first match, no personal Coryat. 24,300 2nd match)
I was hoping the next category would be "Turns out I'm 100 percent that -----" -- and that it would have been about dogs.

James looked genuinely unhappy When Brad found dd2.

<sarcasm>If the ratings continue like they are, ABC might bring back these contestants for a weekly J!/comedy hour show</sarcasm>

I was happy to pick up Lach trash on the cybersecurity category, as well as getting both finals correct for the first time this week.

I suppose it was obvious to me, a former Florida State student, and current resident of Tallahassee, but I was shocked when James, the sports-bettor he is, did not know our colors are Garnet and Gold. We may be looking at a different champion today if he did...

I suspect that alietr quietly banned mbclev some time back. Yes, the same guy who got so upset about people who get dinged for phrasing when they lose by less than the mistake cost them (math and rationality be damned), people who bet everything on DDd and miss, J!'s choice to use the joke "Why can't you take a picture of a man with a wooden leg" in a clue, and Constance McCashin's character being written out of "Knots Landing." His last activity on this board was three Aprils ago.

After two nights of being 1/2 on FJ, I finally got both right. If the clue hadn't mentioned four presidents each, I might have said Whig and Federalist, but with the clue's prompting I remembered the four Democratic-Republicans in a row. So having four D-Rs and four Whigs, we got 28 years of the former and... 8 years of the latter.

Same. I got hung up on the recent string of Mexican winners, and didn't go further back, even though I knew Inarritu directed Birdman. Never would have got to Lee, which is dumb of me. Finally blurted out Del Toro, which wasn't right either.

Also, we welcome cow-turds to the J-Archive. Ken's response to that clue was just classic.

That kinda shocked me.

Got FJ1 pretty easily, but had no chance with FJ2.

My prediction of Ken in 6 is still holding... although I'd be fine if he won it on Tuesday.

James’ legacy on Jeopardy is etched in stone. Just look at the list of top single game wins in the show’s history plus how he handled the TOC, finishing it off by winning over the person who stopped his streak.

Yeah, I'm what you would call "barely knowledgeable" about college sports in general, but the pairing of Garnet & Gold was somewhere in the back of my brain and managed to come forth.

And yes, thank you for reminding me .. my g/f, the avid Morticia Addams fan, was *gravely* disappointed that one was a TS.

I said diamond, knowing that it's a birthstone and used in abrasives, and didn't worry too much about the color thing. Oops!

On James’s DD miss, I spent most of the time thinking the colors referred to the state of Florida and not Florida State, the school. Had to pivot really quickly to get to birthstones that are kind of red and then garnet.
