Pretty sure that's a personal best when taking it for real. I'll take it!

...holy crap. 43 for me tonight, which is by far a new personal best. (And 44 if just Gregory happens to be acceptable without a number.)

Questions on the questions:
4 - It said "major" battle, so I'm assuming they didn't mean Fort Sumter?
10 - Did they want the name of the pope or the calendar? If the former, oops.
36 - Do you think they'll accept just "train" for 36? Obvious now what they're looking for, but trains are fast, right? Right?!

Edit: now that video is up, I see it is definitely not Fort Sumter, and it wanted the name of the Pope, not the calendar. Darn.

Yeah. It did say July 1861, so it's not Sumter, which was April (although there was a First and Second Battle of Fort Sumter).

On 4, yeah, all the clues, like dates, being a major battle, and “First Battle of” point to Bull Run/Manassas.

I put Gregory XIII, but that question seemed really awkwardly-phrased to me.

Looks like a 48/50 for me. Missed Ferrante (could have done it in reverse and got My Brilliant Friend, but couldn’t get her at all) and Ronan Farrow (said Chris Hanson, even though I was almost certain it was wrong). Maybe this will finally be my year to get an audition.

Yeah, I accidentally screwed up the mnemonic in my head forever ago as PSA, and can't undo the damage--now even though I sometimes remember that's wrong, I usually still botch it.

Somewhere in the 42-45 range for me, depending on the judges’ generosity (Shallows, just Gregory, and Social Insurance).

This one seemed pretty literature-heavy to me - 9/50 questions by my count (10 if you count Twilight)

I put the Elena material in the Archive last month and no longer recalled it tonight
BuzzBlog - I knew that did not seem right

It's just for fun and I did have fun. Thank you to sherder for the videos each night and well done for the quick answer sets. Good luck to all looking for the audition whether the first time or nth time. I'm looking forward to seeing "I got the call" posts down the road.

I like this test for having some tougher names and passers of this one should feel confident they could handle the material on the show. This test easily had the better rhyme time clue.

I started off with a good run of 22 right, then didn't remember Elena's last name. I got surprisingly close with "Ferrucci." After that I missed the nonfiction author (perhaps "journalist" in the clue would have nudged me in the right direction), the young prime minister's nation, and the ballet move of all things.

I, too, read Mexico as NEW Mexico & said O’Keefe. Couple of others I just blanked on. Good thing I took it for real on Tuesday! Still wishing retroactive break-a-leg to my sister Eileen!

Think I've heard the name Rian Johnson in context once, but I don't pay attention to Star Wars and haven't yet seen Knives Out, though I intend to.

Me too! She was also in a recent Alpaca Farm quiz.
For those who are asking, I think it's likely they accept both "Gregorian" and "Gregory" for the name of the pope. They try to be more lenient on these screening tests than they would be in the televised game.
