I watched it as it aired. I could not. I screamed "WHAT" when Pat said she was right.

I was able to get it by only concentrating on the noun, figuring that if I got it, the verb would fall into place. I started at the beginning of the alphabet and tried as many letters as I could in the first spot in the word.
Spoiler
B _ _CER (nothing)
F _ _CER (fencer, maybe, but those letters have been used)
G _ _CER (grocer, but the R has already been used)
H _ _CER (nope)
J _ _CER (gotcha!)
Sprinkles are for winners.

MAKING A JUICER was as close as I got. But why make one when you can buy one?

Not to gainsay the Yahoo! lady, but technically the animal on a Lacoste shirt is a crocodile, not an alligator. (René Lacoste was known as "The Crocodile".)
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

Making a [something] was the best I had in the ten seconds allowed as I didn't care enough to pause my live viewing for extra time. After J! I had seen the opening and color scheme of purple guy. Curious about whether he won or not I tuned in near the end and caught the bonus round.

To me that was one of those puzzles that was not supposed to be solved as who is going to pick the right combo of letters to get it. A great solve by the contestant and a difficult one to get in such short time. Too bad the prize was house cash minimum as she deserved more for that get.

Catching parts of the show occasionally I've noticed there are more toss-up puzzles. That would be a wild change if J! did something like a toss-up category of clues to determine the consolations payouts ($1000 even if skunked) instead of the set amounts for 2nd and 3rd. J! round values would be $3000 (the same as the 1+2 paid now) and DJ! numbers would double it. I would say bump the budget and have five clues each worth $2000.

Of course J! won't do any crazy changes especially while Alex is still hosting. The writers would want a pay bump to have to come up with an extra 25-30 clues a night. The material could be the unseen clues to get around that.

Nah, don't mess with success and leave the tinkering to WoF where it belongs.

My wife did. She destroys me at Wheel. I'm amazed at how many times she's able to solve the puzzle with ZERO letters revealed.

She just about blew my mind the other day when I was bemoaning the fact she can always beat me on the New York Times crossword, especially Monday and Tuesday. She said my problem is that I read the clues! :D

Here's a fun Wheel of Fortune puzzle from the 90's someone just posted on my wall. See if you can solve it with no letters on the board (I did, but took me a minute!)

Edit: Had to separate each word by line

That one's pretty easy. Took about 5 seconds.

Took me a lot more than 5 seconds because I was trying to think of all the I and V monarchs ever played on screen.

Also, I might need to buy a vowel to be totally certain of the middle word. (I guess it wasn't advertised like Forrest Gump was, equating the actor to the titular role.)

So many good quotes from that episode. The best,

Penny: Well good news, today a girl is going to touch you in your special parts!

Ahem. "Well then good news. Today's the day a girl is finally going to touch you in your little special place". And you have no idea how many times I have watched that scene. Still cracks me up.

Instant, thought I did go back and do a sanity letter count on the second word (though I partially blame that on the way underscores are formatted)
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.
