I wasn't 100% on FJ!, but I figured "1930s leader who wants to avoid involvement in war and considered (what I assumed to be) Germany and Poland/Czechoslovakia to be 'faraway countries'" had to be the infamously ineffective appeaser Chamberlain.

Two inner planets to choose from and Mercury doesn't have an atmosphere, but I understand the clam as the mission didn't sound familiar to me at all.
Three. Mars is also an inner planet.
Yep, and this is one where too much knowledge was a bad thing. In most contexts,
aka means red, so I went for the Red Planet. (It turns out
akatsuki, meaning dawn, is unrelated to that version of
aka.)

Gave myself a neg for 'cemetery' on Fine Line $800 but they reversed on 'graveyard' so I dunno.
They reversed graveyard from correct to incorrect because it was not the word used in the poem, so cemetery is likewise a neg.
