Alex did the three, "Good for you" closers in the chat segment.

LSV is going to take a hit for his normal clue count as I'm taking over three (and almost tempted to go for five) he won't get because of RUNNING GAGS and QUOTING THE COMEDY FILM being problematic for him.

An improvement today with only one clue not seen.

Big clues hurt the players again. 1/5 yesterday and 2/6 today.

The FJ! clue had me do "Chile" with the category of WOMEN AUTHORS to write the correct name. That was only after exercising my bad habit of trying a speed solve when I wrote "Ea" before seeing that it was author wanted and figuring that Elizabeth Gilbert is unlikely for the FJ! round in regular play. When taking the clue in for its entire wording my correct guess seemed like the best option.

If Katy doubled then that is 26800. The best Michonne could have reached with her wager was 21000. Today the under wager worked. Abhijit did 11000-4300 while I've seen some in his situation do 3001 to to try get to a buck above the leader's starting point. Today 7999 would have been enough.

I wonder if they would have had time for that missing clue if Alex hadn’t wasted time in the intro talking about clues not getting played.

No chance for me on FJ. No comment on the wagering.

Did Alex call Tina Fey “the original SNL cast”?

Yeah, that was all I needed. Chile = Allende = done.

Coryat $37800 (43R, 0W)
DD 3/3
FJ

Very disappointing FJ. All three players whiffed on "name a female Chilean author" and Abhijit cost himself a victory by bafflingly wagering more than he needed to to force the other two contestants to get it right. Womp womp...

Guessed Hillary after ruling out Rice (wouldn’t have written an autobiography while still SoS) and Albright (wouldn’t have had 9/11 as a momentous event while not in office?). In the end it didn’t matter, NHO the actual answer and I’m super impressed with anyone who got it. Hardest non—tournament FJ I’ve seen in ages.

EDIT: Looked at the rest of the thread and now I feel very not smart.

I had "Allende" but couldn't pull the first name in time. Judges?

Do I need a first name to distinguish her from her father, even though he wasn't a writer?

Nah it's Michonne who made the bizarre wager.

Ditto for me. As soon as Alex said Isabel I kicked myself. "Allende" was instaget, but had a complete blank on her first name.

I can’t see why, since the category was Women Authors.

Verily. Abhijit would have won if the champ had bet enough to cover Katy. Often as not that spells disaster for the under-wagering leader, but it works just fine in the event of a TS. Now if contestants only had some way to predict which FJs would be TSs, and which triple-gets, etc.

Every time I see the Classical Music category I start salivating. And a DD in the second box? OMG! I felt like pulling a James and going all-in but I won't do that even with imaginary money. Still my $10,000 get on Pomp & Circumstance made my game for me.

LT: eyepiece, rye (bread), "laugh and the world laughs with you," Dias, overshoes. Nice day of scooping up the trash but nowhere near enough to win the game from the 4th podium.

I precalled disaster for myself on this weak FJ category but somehow turned it into an instaget sole get. I'll take it.

For poll purposes certainly check the box for Isabel, Isobel, Isabelle, etc. as long as you had Allende or similar spelling. If your response was just Allende with no first name that counts as well as long as you did not have Salvador in forgetting the category. If you missed with Gabriela Mistral then there is no saving you.
