Re: FJs for the 3/23/20 week
No excuses for my meager 60% get-rate the past couple of weeks, but J! has been preempted locally several times the past several games by coverage of the president's COVID-19 press conferences. Twice, the press conference ended in time for us to see FJ in Nashville. Otherwise, it's been a complete washout.
I find my FJ percentage is much lower when presented with the clue apart from having just watched the full game played. This may have been discussed on the board previously, but I'm wondering if perhaps it has something to do with getting into a "zone" during game play, thus preparing one mentally going into FJ. Or maybe watching the game prior to FJ is more a matter of "warming up" mentally, as an athlete does physically before a game. Then of course, there's the advantage of being able to rule out any potential response that was already mentioned during the J or DJ round.
I'd be interested in hearing any thoughts you might have on this.

No guess for Wednesday. Eisenhower on Friday.
My wife got the Ringling Causeway clue, but I was blank.

Damned Belize anyway!

I wanted to clam on the Scaramouche clue because "Bohemian Rhapsody" is one of the worst songs ever.

In the words of Timothy Leary, I think it's about "set and setting." Sometimes I check today's FJ when I'm walking between meetings and am in the middle of something, in those cases I am more likely to miss key words or parse something wrong. If I'm watching in real time with the music playing, I tend to do better.cinemaniax7 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 12:40 am No excuses for my meager 60% get-rate the past couple of weeks, but J! has been preempted locally several times the past several games by coverage of the president's COVID-19 press conferences. Re: FJs for the 3/23/20 week
Started the week with a bang and ended with a whimper.
Had "Mexico, Honduras, and Belize" for the Yucatan. Knew Belize was on the peninsula, and was misled into thinking Belize and Honduras were both there because of Belize's previous identification as "British Honduras."
My mental coin landed on FDR.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Re: FJs for the 3/23/20 week
I'm shocked to see Friday's FJ (first POTUS to give SotU on TV) polling at only 36%. I missed it (went with Ike) but figured I would be the anomaly and that the collective board probably didn't fall into that trap. Oh well.
Frankly surprised to see 68% saying they got the three Yucatan nations, which I thought was a harder-than-average FJ. Good for the board!

I'm sure I would've been able to put together Ringling = Florida (knowing the circus was headquartered there) if it was a FJ clue. Possibly could've pulled Lend-Lease if it was a Learned League question.
I would prefer not to.
