British Bill
Eisenhower

Not Polled though requested: Could you have solved the Monday FJ! clue without the word "prejudices" included? It's tough to answer those kind of hypotheticals. I had the show on my radar off the category and I like to think I still solve it without the key word.

Honduras instead of Belize.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Had Honduras instead of Belize on Thursday, second-guessed myself with Eisenhower on Friday.

Had no clue what state I'm supposed to associate with Ringling.

---   ---

I guessed Florida because I remember walking the MacArthur causeway to South Beach* and the only other causeway I know I've heard of is the one in the Godfather, but I'm from New York and I was pretty there's nothing called the Ringling around here. Even the circus no longer comes to the Garden (or anywhere else). There's a great chance I wouldn't have rung in, but I gave myself credit because green is my favorite color.

To answer Mark's question, I'd have had an awfully hard time without "prejudices". Easier would be if that were the only word in the clue.

I"m pretty sure I've heard the Truman bit before. Not much TOM but it's often that way when there is a very small set of possible answers.

*There was a bus, but I wanted to see Al Capone's house on Palm Island.

Lend-Lease was the only alliterative act I could name, so that was my response even though I didn't know whether it had anything to do with 1941.
