Sorta half right, in that what is now Bangladesh did split from India in the 1947 partition. But that's also an anachronism, as Bangladesh as a country did not exist until the early 1970s, when East Pakistan fought for its independence from the rest of Pakistan.

Twice this week I missed questions that I ended up seeing answers to like a day later. LD50 showed up in an article I was reading, and Tuesday's Jeopardy!, which I didn't get to until Friday evening because I'm currently working again, dropped exactly the same information about the Musee D'Orsay as Thorsten did. The latter cost me a tie. At least I'm not in danger of relegation just yet, but this really hasn't been my season win/loss wise.

The Most Common Wrong answer is often the Most Wrong Common answer.

As soon as I thought of the Speed network (which apparently hasn't existed since 2013), I thought I had it and stopped trying.

I didn’t know what the question was really getting at, saw the NO2 and mistakenly though laughing gas, couldn’t get past that, put Comedy Central.
The elemental combination meant nothing to me while I was determined to get it through the TV network path. I was mentally going through my onscreen guide and after at least 25 low and 25 higher channels finally had the eureka moment in the middle. It was probably easier for those with chemistry knowledge.

It was a good set for me getting all 6 after guessing on the card game and secretary.
I did try to come up with channels, but haven’t had cable for a few years; even if TNT came to mind, I doubt I would’ve considered it.

I wondered how Meggie got this and how it was in a middle row clue. It doesn't seem that famous unless you are an art enthusiast. I've been to Paris 6 or 8 times and this museum never made the cut for my tourism time but I've seen the name and building many times. That's partly on me, I've seen the Catacombs twice, and the Flea Market almost every time, so there's that.

I bet Thorsten groans every time a J! game spoils one of his hard fought clues. I automatically assign a zero to recently spoiled (from J!) clues as I assume the majority of LL'ers watch the show. Well, except for the OP here, on tape delay :).

TNT was a fantastic clue. I am surprised that the chemical formula might as well have been hieroglyphics to many people. While it isn't recognizable like H2O, the tri-nitro group is right there. But, I can see laughing gas as a misdirection, and maybe TNT = Trinitrotoluene isn't as well known as I think.

The museum reminder helped me get 5 right, a new personal best (I think). At least I got a 7(5)-7(5) tie out of it for only my 3rd point of the season.

Or a train enthusiast!

(A fact which may have also helped bring TNT immediately to mind for me, since they're currently running the train-related show "Snowpiercer.")

My art knowledge is horrible and I’ve heard of it. Possibly from a Robert Langston movie?

Not that I could remember the name. But it obviously wasn’t the louvre.

Musee D'Orsay is probably the most famous impressionist art museum. I've been there and for anyone into impressionist art its a must. I personally prefer it to the Louvre, but that is mostly just due to my preference for impressionist works over most others.

I'm pretty sure it has not been in the Langdon movies, but I do feel like its among the group of well known museums. Certainly the second most famous in France in my mind.

alietr, Thorsten is looking for BWA searchers on a beta basis. Now is your opportunity to impose, er, explore, your sense of humor with the community at large.

I tend to think of that "Best wrong answer chitchat" thread as "People who aren't as funny as they think."

You can find past BWA winners and nominees on the History page. Under the Past Seasons heading, click Awards at right of any season. Beneath the top five at right are links to all that season's BWAs.
I remain baffled that this gem from LL80, MD21 didn't make the top five.

So, was there some specific reason I should have known who Dominic Cummings was?

There was an attempt to get him removed from office because one of the deadlines for how the Brexit negotiations would continue was on May 31st and MPs who wanted to stop further stages of Brexit wanted him gone. The UK had a really draconian stay-at-home order due to the pandemic, and Cummings wasn't staying in his primary residence, instead living somewhere near where his parents and in-laws lived so that they could look after his children. It seemed to be something that was briefly big in the news until the George Floyd stuff happened.

I thought it was because he traveled several hundred miles to get to his in-laws with the stay-at-home order still in place, and that he had been one of the people responsible for the stay-at-home order in the first place. Which really pissed off a lot of the English. They seem to have a lot less tolerance for hypocrisy at the top of their government than we do.
