Worst kind of 0/5 in Emmys. I recognized all five, but my brain just wasn't making the connections fast enough.

Ran Spare a Rhyme and Throwing You a Curve, but then went off the rails with only four more gets in the entire DJ! round. Even more unusually, I thought the Forgetful Sequels played upside-down, as I missed the top two but got the bottom three.

No guess on FJ! I keep forgetting that Lawrence of Arabia was a real person.

I'm curious if anyone worked their way to a solve on this FJ. It feels like something you either had before Alex was done reading (me) or you weren't going to get there at all (the contestants).

Will looked nonplussed when he was trying to decide on his DD wager and had Meggie whispering at him to “do it.” If he was, I don’t blame him. This is not celebrity J!, this is real money and if someone interfered while I was thinking over an important wager I’d be upset.

For the second time this tournament, Trebek wins FJ...I had no clue on that guy.

Pete Conrad, third man to walk on the moon, also died in a motorcycle accident.
Buck Owens fans will remember that his right hand man, guitar player & vocal harmonizer, Don Rich was killed on a motorcycle.
I also seem to remember reading that Roy Orbison's wife was killed on a motorcycle.

Instaget FJ.

I wouldn't blame anyone for being upset. But Will's reaction doesn't read that way to me at all:

https://youtu.be/4Ep1Iew9L9c

If he was bothered, he hid it well. And he makes his wager almost immediately after Meggie's sotto voce advice. That suggests to me he had already decided what to wager and wasn't influenced by her interjection, or rattled by it either. And rattled or not he went on to get the DD, so I'd say no harm, no foul in this case.

I had to shove James Dean out of the conversation (not British, twenty years off, car not motorcycle), but once I finally did, Lawrence clicked.

I wonder if just Lawrence would have been accepted? I'm assuming not since there are two "notable Brits" named Lawrence and they were contemporaries. I wrote down T.E. Lawrence first, but wasn't 100% sure on the initials so ended up putting down Lawrence of Arabia. I'll take the under on Golf's prediction of 80% for this FJ.

Never seen the movie other than a couple short clips, used to know very little about Lawrence Of Arabia other than they made a movie about him for some reason, and that he was not fictional... But I nailed FJ! while Alex was still reading.

Why? "Jay Leno's Garage" on YouTube, of course... I occasionally go to that channel and watch an episode or three...

Usually, each episode is about a car in Jay's huge collection of classic and custom cars, but I saw one on the "Brough Superior" with a picture of a motorcycle on the intro photo. Having never heard of that brand, I clicked on it. The Brough Superior, aka "The Rolls-Royce of Motorcycles", turned out to be Lawrence Of Arabia's ride of choice (also what he was riding when he bought the farm), so there was a good bit of info about him during the episode.

Ya never know where the right bit of trivia is gonna pop up...

Anyway, I didn't notice any annoyance on Will's part when Meggie whispered how he should bet... And it was quite similar to James Holzhauer doing it to Brad Rutter in the GOAT tournament. Beside, as noted Will nailed the DD anyway.

Rooting hard for Meggie tomorrow...

p.s. Other than the triple-stumper FJ!, this was quite a match! It seemed like practically every clue was a buzzer race.

I already liked Ben because he's a choral teacher, but now I find out he's on a recording that I own and love. And hey, look at that, he is!

That would be a shame--you'd be missing one of the most stunningly shot films ever made.

Pete Conrad, third man to walk on the moon, also died in a motorcycle accident.
Bassist Berry Oakley of the Allmans also died in a motorcycle accident, barely a year after Duane.
Writer Richard Farina was another.

Not often I get to start a tourney final by pulling an FJ that skunked the players, but I'll take it.
One more for this tallying under 80%--I'll say closer to 50.

Lawrence of Arabia continues to remain a blind spot. Guessed Montgomery for FJ. :(
"derped"?

Like others, I found the triple stumper on this FJ a shock...no cinephiles among the 3?? If anybody's curious, Lawrence of Arabia is on TCM Saturday night. Since it's part of their The Essentials series, it'll be introduced by animator/filmmaker Brad Bird.
I have little doubt they would have accepted just the last name, though I admit for years before I saw the movie I thought it was his first name...

I also got this thanks to his previous mentions on the show.

Another person of note (though not a household name) who died in a motorcycle accident was 1960 Olympic wrestling champ Doug Blubaugh. Google “Doug Blubaugh Bobby Knight” for a funny story.

"It's the two-word term from the French describing an 'I've been here before feeling.'"

I did the FJ from the website Thursday morning, but held off watching the episode until after Friday's was taped so I could watch them both in a single sitting. Have to admit I was a little confused during the intros.....

Appreciation again to the archivists for getting the game up so quickly so I could play it from the archive before watching the concluding game.

Count me as another surprised that FJ was a TS; with the category I got no farther than "1935 motorcycle accident" before my vision was filled with Peter O'Toole in goggles hunched over handlebars.

But it made me feel better about the accidental rerun. The trick is not minding that it hurts.

Yeah, I got FJ from the first phrase, thanks to a pub quiz question at an O'Brien's Oscars night: "Which four Best Picture winners have a title character who dies or is already dead in the first scene?" (Titanic was my joke answer.)

I don't think Leander's post was a recommendation; just an observation that his death is portrayed early on.

The remaining film won Best Picture two years after one of the others.
