I am probably the only one here that immediately noticed that Tonya's last name is the largest city in Liechtenstein.
I did, too.

I hesitated on cubic foot because a bushel is 2150 cubic inches. I thought that was pretty close.

FJ was an instaget. If you didn't know MLK's year of birth, you should. I had some reminders because at the 50th anniversary of his assassination in 2018, they made a big deal of reminding everyone that he was 39 when he was killed. And last year was his 90th birthday anniversary. Knowing that he was born in 1929, of course was taken to 1939 where gwtw was a WECIB.

I was half surprised there was no BMS on Hepburn.

25 R/8 W

Coryat: $16,400
DDs: 1/3
FJ!:
LT: copper, triple jump, Santa Maria, Richard, Cubic foot, Unger and Madison, Rwanda

Really need to work on staying clam, but it is hard when you have been WAG on everything for as long as I have.
FJ! with my knowledge seemed like a 50/50 between the Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind, but I picked the right one.
I had the honor of having Morgan reply to one of my comments on reddit last night :D

I can't imagine it's acceptable since the clue gave the actual definition.
I actually started with "brown" and switched to "blacken" because "scorch"--even modified by "slightly"--seemed to go beyond the caramelizing action of mere browning. I agree that it's unlikely their pinned source, the Random House Dictionary, uses the same definition for both verbs.

An FJ mixing math and American History. More of that, please. Yeah, probably not the most opportune time to bring that movie up, but the clue writers don’t have a crystal ball. Still an interesting fact, however.

Alex’s prediction the second round would go better didn’t hold up. The Miracle Worker written in 1980? I assume he just saw “deaf” and ran with it. RTFA, people.

I saw District 9 before seeing the previous 8 ones. When that movie came out that was the first time I recall coming across this piece of humor that can do a threadjack here to no end.

Apparently they skipped a couple of installments to get to Six Wives of Henry VIII. There were only VI.

The remind-alike game was easy today with Lindsay, as from moment one of her speaking (coupled with her appearance) it was Beth Behrs as Gemma Johnson on CBS's The Neighborhood.
I had Riki Lindhome - most recently seen in Knives Out but potentially better known as the blonde half of the comedy band Garfunkel and Oates.
That was my thought as well.

It'll take a couple years of binge-watching to get thru the 2999 episodes before Mystery Science Theatre 3000...

Let alone Transylvania 6-5000

I'm definitely not a movie guy, and even I have seen the 1935 classic "Mutiny On The Bounty"...

There have been at least two other major-studio movies based on this true story, a book or three, and I have no idea how many mentions in the Archive...

Oh, wait, this just in... A search on "Bligh" in the Archives gets 78 hits plus six more in FJ's.

Oh, wait... That also added in hits on "Blight". So maybe just 60-70 or something like that...

... No guess on FJ! There were lots and lots and lots and lots of famous films in 1939 and I saw literally no way to narrow this down.
I am with you on the FJ!, but for a different reason. It would have helped me tremendously if I'd had any idea how old MLK was... Maybe. I got stuck on the choir reference and tried to think of a religious movie and even knowing I needed a 1939 movie might not have helped me. Dunno why they would have a choir at a Civil War flick...

Not surprisingly, it's part of an appalling story-

I didn't use any math to come up with this FJ . I just caught the intended irony immediately. I suppose the words "celebrated premiere" helped...And King's Atlanta upbringing, of course...

I haven't seen any of the films either, but got FJ! In my house as a kid, we had the The Bounty Trilogy in book form. I never read it but I learned the basics of the story from the illustrations (as well as a thing or two of female anatomy in the 3rd book (sometimes it pays off to stick with a long work to the end)).

Hartsfield was a big supporter of the airport and helped it become the major hub it is today. It is unfortunate how McDaniel was treated but I doubt he could have done much to change it and remain mayor in 1939. I don’t know much about him but a little digging didn’t reveal him to be a fire breathing racist or a Klan member. There were certainly worse Georgia politicians in that era.

As for the movie, this was announced today:
