When I finally was able to get the transmission to work the FJ! clue was already up. I was ready to toss some kind of Thoreau/Emerson coin until I saw the category. That made all the difference for a quick solve.

Seeing the scores it will be interesting to watch in reverse order later to see if DD play mattered.

It's finally in: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6694

Thank you for patience and understanding.

Morgan sure let that game get away from him.

15W and double digit TS as the season staggers to the finish line.

Seeing MARQUEE "MOON" as a category really makes me wish there was a RnR J!-Archive. That album by Television hasn't appeared on the regular show (as far as we know, of course), but I can imagine it having shown up on Probst's show.

Other than size, is there any reason whatsoever that should lead me to assume this was Concord NH instead of Concord VA? It's not like Virginia was a major source of early Presidents or anything ...

Coryat $41,000 (45R, 0W)
DD 3/3
FJ

LT $10,200 = 4th podium victory

Was kinda meh in the first round, but killed it in DJ (25/28). Great comeback by Zach, after the J! round I thought he was a goner.

Johnny Carson a TS? Kids.

A cruise line sponsored a Clue Crew trip to a landlocked country.

If you know where the presidents are from, that helps in knowing which Concord they were talking about.

He hasn’t posted yet, but this is for TPH. You had a 1/15 chance of getting it right by pulling a name out of a hat. So put one down. You can probably eliminate at least half of them as they likely didn’t die in obscurity. Certainly none of the Founding Fathers. Or Jackson from Nashville. Or the two who died in office. Now you are down to 1/7.

But the ones who died in obscurity are so obscure!

History of Hungary was an instant 0/5. Can't say I've heard of the "Red Army" before.

Dictionary was tough too. I got "thesaurus", NHO "fence", and just make the other three click.

NHO any of those "Moon" movies except "New Moon".

All but "insanely" in Adverbially.

No guess on FJ! I couldn't tell you thing one about Pierce.

Meh, I'm not good with the birthplaces of presidents. I chose to focus on "obscurity" and "pre-Civil War", and figured Buchannan, the most universally reviled president by historians, would have died in obscurity....but TIL he's from Pennsylvania. Cue NBC's "The More You Know" star crashing into my Coryat.

I thought the $200 clue for IN THE DICTIONARY was bad. I had "try" - judges? Specifically, literal judges, if there are any here, as they would be highly likely to know the subtle differences between litigate, prosecute, and try. I literally paused the show and looked it up in an online thesaurus, and found both "litigate" and "try" linked as relevant to the word prosecute, but there was no correction on the show. If it's a case of pinning it to some specific Random House dictionary definition...well, that's just a little bit evil, IMO. The little bit of irony that I looked up the clue in a THESAURUS isn't lost on me, given the next clue in the category.

The Viking cruises are river cruises, so I don't see a promotional problem with Hungary being landlocked...they can go on the Danube. However, there ARE other problems nowadays...

I precalled "Moon River" before I fully understood the MARQUEE "MOON" category, and was disappointed after it wasn't played, given its connection to "Breakfast at TIffany's", a J! staple. I did get "Man ON the Moon", thanks to the R.E.M. song the movie was named after - "If you believed, they put a man ON the moon, man on the moon..."

It was a little bit much to hope that the category was about the album.

Especially since the clue stated he was already a star at the time the movie was in the making. King of Comedy came out in 1983, so Letterman and Lenno were not household names yet.

I clammed on it because I wasn't sure between Johnny Carson & Steve Allen.

I did know Moonstruck and Man on the Moon though.
I suspect the other two were instructed to stand quiet because of an unseen edit, after the Man IN the Moon neg.
