It Was a Long Time Coming

On October 25, 2005, I walked into the Sony Studios for my appearance on Jeopardy. I had this crazy idea that I would propose to my girlfriend Carol Anne during the interview segment since she was in the audience. When I mentioned my idea to Maggie, she said "I love it! But I have to run it by the producers." When Alex came up to me during the break for my interview, I still had no idea if they were going to do it. But Alex and the producers apparently liked the idea, and when they panned to a very shocked Carol Anne in the audience, she gave a thumb's up (the expression on the face of the kid sitting behind her was worth it alone). Well, just shy of 15 years later, I can happily report that we have finally officially gotten married today. Since traditional weddings are out of the question at this point, we held a Zoom wedding with our family this morning in a park near our house and the party will have to wait until another time. I wanted to share my wonderful news with all of my Jeopardy friends out there.

Nats with the World Series in 2019 and marriage in 2020. What's planned for 2021?

I was in second grade when you proposed to your girlfriend on the show. Now, I am heading into my fifth year in college. God, it took a while.

Back then I was an 18-year-old who wanted to get on J!

Now I'm a 33-year-old waiting to see if they liked me enough at an audition held a year ago.

Times have changed, and I feel old.

Still awesome news!

Fantastic - may you have many happy years together!

I especially like that when she asks you to do a project around the house you can look at her and say with a straight face "You do realize I currently have a 15 year backlog, right?"

If you care to share, is there any video online of the segment?
