Superior – no help from poem or song though if I had processed the clue better it would have been the poem

Would have got the football doc with multiple choice

Gordon Lightfoot got me Tuesdays FJ

As I posted in Friday's thread, the Facebook Jeopardy page spoiled FJ before I could watch the episode... Might have been my first brag box ever

I got as far as "Marie Antoinette's mom, whats her frickin name?"

UK on Monday felt overly easy and I spent the rest of FJ trying to figure out if there was another country or if I was misunderstanding the clue; I couldn't think of anything else or any other interpretation, so I stuck with my first guess. The poem was how I got Tuesday's, although I wasn't positive that it was "The Song of Hiawatha."

Ditto.

Concussion isn't even in my (now 377 disc long) queue on the NetFlix DVD side. And no, this hasn't encouraged me to add it...

Gordon Lightfoot here; familiar with Bugs Bunny's reading of Hiawatha, but I never made the connection from it to Superior.

Good performance but not... superior. UK was a guess on Monday. Tried to think of two letters with a Dutch connection and couldn't. I correctly parsed what Tuesday's clue was going for, unlike our contestants (who were under much more pressure). I even followed the breadcrumbs as far as Hiawatha before giving up and trying thoughts in other directions. Knew the TR Bull Moose anecdote. Got this one quickly and never wavered. Took Old Icelandic at UCLA and read parts of both sagas named. Slam dunk, done before the reading of the clue. Started in DC for Friday's clue, recovered and got to the Leaning Tower in plenty of time.

Clammed on the Maria Teresa clue but would have guessed correctly if forced. I remember reading about the concussion guy and have very vague memories of knowing about the Will Smith movie as well. But no way was I pulling that guy's name. In fact, I can't remember it now.

Knew both the poem and the Lightfoot song.

Crispus Attucks should go in the Hawley-Smoot folder now that I've retained it.

From 1/7 to start the season now up to 9/15.

Got Tuesday (assuming "Gitchy-Gumy" is close enough for the spelling overlords) entirely thanks to Longfellow; I would recognize "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" if I heard it, but couldn't quote the lyrics and before Tuesday wasn't sure the ship wrecked on Superior.

I remember seeing ads for the movie Concussion but would have never come up with the guy's name.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Credit for Tuesday I'd have to split among Longfellow, Lightfoot, and whoever wrote MAD magazine's spoof of "Apocalypse Now".

Figured Attucks was the only Boston Massacre casualty likely ever to come up, though I hadn't known he was the first. Someone on the scene must have been paying very close attention.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Had "FR" thought of "UK" about halfway through but didn't make the switch.

Gitche Gumee was a pre-call for me.

Not my best week.. FR, Superior, don't remember what I did Thursday.

Looks like I'll be the first to claim a get on Omalu, a little surprising considering how many sports nuts there are here. Never saw Concussion, but I read about Omalu/his work when they were featured in a Sports Illustrated article before the movie came out.. would have been early December 2015. I'll have to see if I can track it down later.

Felt very silly Monday and Tuesday. For Africa, thought "Well, many countries were formerly British colonies, British=Britain" and never switched from GB to UK. For Tuesday, didn't fully parse the clue and thought "Is it really so easy? They just want Superior?" Had I RTFQ I would have gotten it.

Extra clues -- Maria Teresa was an "oh, yeah -- huh." If I had been given Omalu, there's maybe a 5% chance I would have remembered the connection to CTE. No hope at all going in the other direction.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.
