Alex opened on commenting about both challengers being "AA" names. Let's see cheezguyty find another set of "AA" players.

This Friday stinker of a game will be in ten worst of the season if not top 5. It's not uncommon for there to be a let down after a TOCer departs.

The FJ! category had me write the correct guy first for my list of precalls. I added "Grand Canyon" Ferde, Guthrie, Berlin/God Bless America and more to amuse myself, Casey Kasem.

The clue had me match Kristin for the miss. I do no know enough to always realize when I'm wrong and need to keep thinking. The distinction between 1942 and 1944? Nope. Knowing anything much more than composer/work matches? Nope.

Seeing this clue in regular play has me wondering what kind of toughies will show up in the ToC next year. ( have no expectation of the ToC happening in 2020.) Over the years I've seen the correct work in clues many times and have named the composer nearly as many times. Today's version was enough of a twist to catch me. For others with less familiarity on the names this one will be a no chance, NHOI.

Kristin defended her title and we'll see what the new pool of players bring her way for next week. Let's be optimistic and hope for 15 players playing the FJ! clues for starters. 12 this week was not good.

I bet this is the first time in Aaron's life he has been in a group of three people and not been first alphabetically.

It's done: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6846

More TS clues than can Opus can fit in a poll. He may have to ask Andy for a bump to 20 options.

ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE $800 had me guess hot dogs and Hammer is welcome to complain about that clue as much as he wants to. I'll be interested in how he did with $400 as well as I do understand the neg even though I guessed (did not know) that one.

Yesterday I was going to post it and forgot. Today I'll add apologizes ahead of time for any instance I have here or in the archive for not having "Kristin" as any time there is a Kristin, Kirstin, Kristen or Kirsten I won't always get it right. Put a "Y" in any of those names and I'm rooting against the person before the show comes on.

I'll fix my Kirstin error above and check the last two games in the archive.

Had "Too much information" for "Don't go there"
:D :( :D for DDs. Guessed Ethiopia for China.
Why the $+-#(@! Couldn't FJ have just asked for the composer? :x :x :x :x :x

I matched Mark and, therefore, Kristin for FJ.

I also matched Mark with hot-dogs (to me 8", 10", and 16" are the 'normal' pizza sizes). 12" = foot = foot-long = hotdogs.

Coryat $34,600 (45R, 3W)
DD 3/3
FJ

My Coryat slide continues. First $2000 neg of the year; matched Kristin with Northrop Grumman. Then tried to rebound with McDonnell-Douglas. Come to think of it, every defense aviation contractor is two-named, so that was a bogus TOM!

I wasn't jazzed about my performance, but $11,200 in LT plus FJ got me the easy 4th podium victory.

I thought it sounded like Aaron did not beat the buzzer on the first DD. Was expecting a reversal.

Spring the trap door on all three contestants for not knowing Bill Murray was greens keeper Carl.

I had more Lach Trash than I can remember. Including Pearl, Bill Murray, Vacuum, Elvis Costello, JFK, Lockeed Martin. Plus the 3 DDs.
No go on the FInal, so I don't think I could have won from the fourth podium.

Kristin makes another risky Final wager. She could have put herself into an unnecessary tie-breaker.

The closest I can get is Show #5961, when Aaron Wicks defended against Saad Hasan.

Aanchal is now the first player alphabetically in the Archive, surpassing Aarin Martinez.

Thanks and thanks, good stuff as always.

Do I need more than one hand to count the players as "originally from San Francisco"?

Rough game. And another Darn! from Alex at the end

+1 Ethiopia after dismissing China. Doh! Go with the gut

+1 Rodeo - note to self: use the think time to be sure

I was genuinely stunned at the St. Augustine pull.

Rebounds I don’t think I would have got otherwise: Lockheed Martin, vacuum

Pizza? No chance. I had 12”, um, sparklers, and so I clammed

Somehow, Appalachian Spring and Rodeo instantly came to mind for me, and I figured the ellipsis before that word was referring to something geographical. Made sense to me to pick the former and go from there.

By my count, $9,600 in LT gives me a fourth podium victory.

I shall express how I felt watching this game with a question.

Do we even need a 4th podium poll?

All I needed was Lockheed-Martin, steam power and a pizza (sounds like my kinda party) + a correct FJ and I'm already there. I'll check the inevitable poll's boxes anyway...

I looked at the ellipsis as "we really worked hard to make sure this word made it into the clue".

She sure does. I got Bill Murray because I remembered that he'd played FDR. I didn't see it (it has an unimpressive 5.8 rating on the IMDB) but Murray as FDR in a serious film registered as one of those I-must-have-gotten-old-somewhere moments.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Not feeling well today. May take a crack at it tomorrow with SJ and DJ+FJ polls to break things down.

Keep your fingers crossed that I wake up after 2 hours of sleep and can't get back, like last night. That way I'll roll the polls out around 2 a.m. :D :?

A fuller version of the Copland quote is that "Martha [Graham]’s Ballet (eventually to be called Appalachian Spring) concerned a pioneer celebration in spring around a newly built farmhouse in the Pennsylvania hills in the early part of the last [19th] century." Easy to see why the ellipses were placed where they were.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.
