Re: Monday, October 26, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Ariel got a plug in for Buena Vista Winery. For clue responses I can understand why Alex & the judges may not have been ready ahead of time for what she had attached to the sternum.
On the golf clue I would have been a wise guy and said, "WhoisManningwhichonePeyton?"
Watching the Delta CBS station I know one thing. If Mike Espy does not beat Cindy Hyde-Smith for the Senate seat it won't be for lack of TV ads. Every break it seems like he's on with that raspy voice.
Jonathan left 4600 on the table with his DD3 bet. If he had missed he would have trailed 15200 to 4600 with 8 clues worth 7600 remaining. If he had said (well, thought it), "Screw it" and bet $8000 Jonathan would have trailed by $200 for the FJ! round. 8200 to 8600 to hear from any contestant at that point would be surprising.
The FJ! category had me precall: Dead Sea Scrolls, Bhagavad Gita, Kama Sutra and the Koran. Right as the Geico-lantern came up I thought of one more with the Book of the Dead.
The FJ! clue had me eliminating my precalls and I had to think again. Ah, the law guy. Not Solon, the other one. If I had thought of Draco I would have had to work out yes/no on him. Thank you to Brian for his misspelling (as confirmation as correct) as I matched his response except I had a double M. [Wipes brow]
Brian's FJ! response in case it's up for discussion:

The game is in: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6852
There are enough TS clues for a 4th podium win though there is little room for error to be above 13200. $5000 for me has me way off.
[Sarcastically] Yeah, thanks writers for the Maximum Security reminder. viewtopic.php?p=307344#p307344

Archive play-through:
Coryat $45,200 (47R, 0W)
DD 3/3
FJ
$11,000 in LT, not enough for the 4th podium win. I did get DD2 from the 4th podium by getting The Sun Also Rises immediately beforehand.
Not a lot to beat myself up over in this game. 3/5 in the sports category, which is usually a strong suit, and no more than one miss in any other category.
I won't say this was a Kids Week FJ, but it was close. Not a lots of mental twists and turns required.

I had the right idea but thought his name was Hamarati.
Brian swung at too many pitches but still managed to hang on for the win.
I guess Jonathan never read Peanuts if Camel wasn’t an instaget given Sopwith.
Mark...be glad you aren’t still watching the Montgomery station or you would be enjoying Doug Jones and Tommy Tuberville ads.

Re: Monday, October 26, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
There was a lot of sloppy writing in today's show — so much so that I actually yelled at the TV at one point
BONES, $200: This set of curved bones attaches to the sternum
It was clear they were going for ribs, but as soon as Ariel said collarbones, I knew they'd have to accept it. It's a top-row clue — you can pin it by saying "24 bones" or something similar
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, $400: In 2019 a team from River Ridge, Louisiana won this sport's championship in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania
This is where I got really mad:
ON ITS WESTERN BORDER $2000: Northwest Territories: this other Canadian territory
C'mon, man… the $400 clue was more difficult. Even asking for Nunavut's western neighbor is $1200 at most

For the record, my precall was The Epic of Gilgamesh followed by The Book of the Dead

Given how frequently Canada clues are triple stumpers, $2000 was probably the right spot for this.

<insert complaint that "Hamarabi" is fine but "Barry Gordy" isn't>
Of my many FJ precalls, Hammurabi's Code was first

This is the second time in a row that I've noticed that our TV station isn't showing any commercials between Single and Double Jeopardy. Is this happening to anybody else? Where is that extra time going?

Re: Monday, October 26, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I skipped forward to FJ! right when I heard the end of round bell, so I only gave myself about 2-3 seconds for precalls. It was just Dead Sea Scrolls and Rosetta Stone for me - although I don't know if you'd call the Rosetta Stone a text per se. But it had words and lost of languages, and the wiki article on it describes part of it as a "text", so I guess it could fit - although, reverse engineering it, if "Rosetta Stone" were related to the clue, they probably wouldn't call it ANCIENT TEXTS. I think of it more as an artifact.
I got Code of Hammurabi pretty quickly. I didn't have anything else to push me away from the right response, so I clicked forward 30 seconds and still had plenty of time to hear the BOM BOM.
For the "Splash" clue, I got negged big time with "mermaid". Anyone over 40 is probably vaguely familiar that "Splash" is about a mermaid, but is that line really that famous?
For the judges: I had "showdown" instead of "when the chips are down" in SOUNDS LIKE MONEY TO ME - what say you? Rereading it, it probably doesn't fit the "difficult" part of the clue itself.

Re: Monday, October 26, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Terrible game for me. Ran Bones and got all but $1,000 in Hyphenated and Comprehensible, but was 0/5 in Champions, Quiet Place, and Historic Lasts. Then only 7R 1W in DJ!
What was the TOM for Little League on We Are the Champions for $400?
Count me in as another person who knew "Sopwith Camel" from Peanuts. Definite Hawley-Smoot Rule on that one.
Biggest derp of the day was being unable to shift gears from mermaid to fish.
No guess on FJ! Yet another case of me only half-knowing something: I know there is something called "Hammurabi's Code", but couldn't tell you a single thing about it other than its name.
Lach Trash: honky-tonk, The Sun Also Rises. Also got the Breakfast of Champions DD.

“Honky tonk” is not hyphenated in the Stones song title.
