Andrew Chaikin has the stage name Kid Beyond, and he's a super talented beatboxer whom I've been aware of longer than I've been on J! message boards. He's also had a few puzzles used for Will Shortz's weekly challenges on NPR. I'm looking forward to watching him play (when KABC airs this episode tomorrow night).

Mark will usually post something by now if the station he catches hasn't switched over (as would the Reddit recapper).

He got to demonstrate his skills. Beatboxing skills. Delta aired it fine. I had a phone call come in at 10:30 I had to take, so slight delay on everything.OntarioQuizzer wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 1:16 pmMark will usually post something by now if the station he catches hasn't switched over (as would the Reddit recapper).

Well, looking it up the French and Spanish for thumb are pretty much right there in the clue. Darned if I knew either of them though. Matched the champ with Little Mermaid. Maybe if I had remembered "pollux"= thumb it would have helped.

Re: Friday, November 6, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
At DD2 the scores were 6800-6800-5200 and Burt added $3000 for a last hurrah. Andrew went off on the buzzer getting up to 23600 by the time DD3 was found on clue 29.
For a lot of the game I felt like I was watching a ToC match as the guys played like this was not their first (or second game). However, long the taping day was, they were ready to go for a fast-paced contest to end the week.
Watch the end of the J! round for hand bows and nods of appreciation by the players and Burt was so relaxed he took the rarely seen on camera swig of water.
The FJ! category had me skip the precall game as after missing 3 in a row I thought it was better to play it straight with a clean slate. It worked as I only wrote the correct name even though I only knew how to translate "Petite". Luck was on my side as my first thought went the right way before I could get my self into trouble with all the possible "Little" detours.
If I learned "pouce" in high school French I did not recall it. It figures the gentlemen would play so well and then have the FJ! clue go 0/3.
Andrew's wager had to make many happy as did not sit on his total with a 0 bet and bet the house limit his lock allowed.
It was nice that Burt got to talk about his J! connection with his grandfather and learning English through Alex and the show on air and not just have it be a social medial bonus clip.

Another week complete: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6861
28R by Andrew for a great debut. 44,400 is the high Combined Coryat for the season. Only 6 TS clues in an improvement as well. Yay, everyone got to play the FJ! clues this week.

Re: Friday, November 6, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Despite some facility in both French and Spanish I didn't know "pouce" and "pulgar" were "thumb" so I was stuck between (in order of decreasing probability) the Little Match Girl, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and the princess from "The Princess and the Pea".

Little Red Ridinghood here though was sure it was wrong.
Would not have guessed English wasn’t his mother tongue if Burt had not mentioned it.

Largest desert in Africa is worth $1000? Really?
Knew it wasn't Little Mermaid, but it was all I could think of.

It didn't affect the game, but Rod Serling's brother was Robert, not Richard. Robert was credited for assistance in writing the Twilight Zone episode "The Odyssey of Flight 33," in which a commercial airliner accidentally breaks a time barrier.

Excellent game - a standout in a most uneven season
Instaget Final - sad I won't see that clue in any of my games!
Matched Burt with blanking on Gene...ugh. In this case, Andrew had the full name on the ready for the rebound. Note to aspiring contestants - be careful not to speak until you have a complete response, lest you help a competitor
Surprised by the Vaduz and Quebec misses
